I can't say for the 360 version, but the PC version...

Well...

Its like what would happen if you took the original AVP, removed everything, added it back wrong, changed the keys around, made it work for a pad, ported it in about 15minutes to PC and added IWNet...

So before you flame me for saying something negative, play the PC version... I'm sure the 360 versions plays jubly, because thats where the money is... But the PC version, from the single level DEMO, is a poor port, and made me cancel my pre-order :( If you go into it thinking it will be ANYTHING like the old games, you will be mistaken, so expect it to be Modern Warfare 2 LITE with no crouch and you will be fine...

So... Flame away if you must, but play the PC version first, or at least the 360 one :(

odium is right actually. mp is as disappointing as i expected it to be. reasons i dislike it:

for such a simple game, the controls are just overly complicated... i mean blocking?! pfft. give us a key to shoot, another to use the secondary fire and a key to melee. that is all we will ever need.

with regards to matchmaking, it put me on two shitty servers and then two good ones. usual luck of the draw console crap.

the fact that all mics are enabled by default in lobbies means that it just turns into a mess of noise before and after games. this is probably the number 1 issue that needs sorting before we all die in a feedback loop.

having to hold the use key down to pickup items as a marine is just plain retarded, especially when you consider how long it takes. it's not even worth using anything other than a pulse rifle, since you'll probably be dicked in the back by an alien/predator before you've even picked it up anyway.

oh and cheap ass instant kills are still as annoying as ever... though i do like the fact that you are completely open to attack when doing so, since it makes using them a risk.

fov is too close as per usual. more console faggotry.

it's not horrible by any means and the atmosphere is certainly there. at its current state, the game won't be taken seriously in mp. on the plus side, i'm sure the sp campaigns will be a lot of fun.

The problem with AvP games? Too fucking dark. Why on earth they decided to give you that one shitty map and make it deathmatch only, I have no idea. I think they may have just shot themselves in the foot.

Hmmm, that's a shame. Really had high hopes for this one.
Still hope they only stupidly fucked up the demo, and the full game itself will own.
I mean, how can it not? All the ingredients for 'win' are there :(

Doombrain's gone all wrong again.

It's also more enjoyable on the PS3 because it's a better controller too.

Tried the demo out tonight and thought it was pretty weak. I chose the predator but combat essentially came down to "go invisible, sneak up with infrared, press X to insta-kill" then rinse and repeat. The Marines just blast bullets in every direction and the aliens do pretty much the same kind of insta-kills as the predator, except faster. I'll probably pass on even renting the full version.

It's too bad they managed to fuck it up, I blame consoles.
