Doom Eternal
Re: Doom Eternal
Here's an interview with Billy Khan, lead engine programmer of id Software. He talks about Doom Eternal, idTech7, next gen platforms and more.
The interview was done by Dutch website Tweakers, so there are some Dutch spoken bits in there, but you won't be missing anything if you can't understand it.

Doom Eternal is getting a multi-part story DLC called The Ancient Gods

Re: Doom Eternal
Cool, more Doom is always good

Re: Doom Eternal
I finished it a short time ago; For me, the spirit of Doom Eternal is totally true to the series. Movement and weapon improvement are really interesting bringing new level design possibilities
Faithful to Doom from the very beginning, I was however disappointed with this Eternal version for two reasons :
- The low artistic quality. It is not the millions of polygons that are enough to make the artistic quality. It is enough to think of Van Gogh to be convinced of it. Still on the artistic level, the decorations are on the whole too monotonous with a basic material which is very often stone. on this point, I find Doom 2016 of a much higher level.
- The repetitive and boring side of waves of monsters sometimes seeming endless with a bad mix of difficulty. In the old Doom enemies could appear in a more ingenious way.
There you go, so I'm going to go back to Doom 2016 :sly:

Re: Doom Eternal
You know what this game really needed? More marauders for that extra bit of wait-for-it gameplay.
Luckily they fixed that in the expansion I see : hype:

Re: Doom Eternal
Ancient Gods will be a standalone release, meaning you dont need Eternal to play.
Meanwhile, official OST has been removed from Spotify, assumingly in the wake of the Gordon/id debacle.

I wonder what draconian anti cheat software they'll have bundled this time :rolleyes:MKJ wrote:Ancient Gods will be a standalone release, meaning you dont need Eternal to play.

Great, that means it's a separate executable where you have to customize all the game settings and key bindings again.MKJ wrote:Ancient Gods will be a standalone release, meaning you dont need Eternal to play.

Re: Doom Eternal
I already have the RTX 2080 ti and love it for the current build that I have now. I am working on getting another build with an AMD 32core Treadripper 9 Extreme. 128gb of ram and a RTX 3080. The best thing about being a seasoned gamer is that we have the money to buy badass rigs. Keeps the senses sharp as well. I still game everyday just like I did 21 years ago.

128 GB of RAM
You doing video editing or heavy-duty graphic design on that thing?

Re: Doom Eternal
I got a 2080 Ti from Asus not long after they launched when I RMA'd my 1080 Ti. Might grab a 3080 Ti when it's released.
Re: Doom Eternal
*I* have a laptop with a 1060 in there and it still runs every game I throw at it at 60fps
