I just got back from Batman Begins.

That movie owned from the first minute to the last. My only gripe, which is a tiny one at that, was that the director kind of teetered between Batman getting the girl at the end. While he didn't get her, it was still happier and more satisfying than Spider-Man getting the girl at the end of the first Spidey film. If you ask me, it should have been clear that he did not get the girl. Though I don't know much about the history of Batman in the comics, so the director may have just been sticking closely to the story in that respect.

I also was not a fan of the Batmobile, but I won't fault it because it's kind of early in Batman's career for him to have ALL his gadgets finely tuned. Plus the car isn't exactly efficient at catching crooks while the tank is. That doesn't mean the car doesn't look cool. :p

I liked the reference to the Joker at the end, even though I think it was a diversion from the storyline (wasn't Batman responsible for the guy becoming the Joker, or was that just in the movie adaptation of the comic?).

10/10
This movie is a must-see. The only Batman movie better was the original.

The Machinist. Dunno how to rate this, you just have to see it. Cant accuse Bale for not giving it his all though.

War of the Worlds 8.5/10, only for the ending. More for the fact that I wasn't really satisfied with it than the fact that it didn't work. I thought that the movie was amazingly well done as far as effects went, but Tom Cruise played the same guy he always does. Him, Cuba Gooding, Jr., Denzel Washington, they ALL play the same guy in every movie.
I really got caught up in the film, I don't want to say it scared me, but it conveyed the sense of fear very well.

Good flick, loved how dark and gritty it was, none of that pointy titties of val kilmer or george cloony, good acting overall, great effects. gg 8/10

Now they should promptly ram sack the hollywood wear house that keeps backup reels of movies and burn the other horrible contraptions, but the keaton/phipher/jack adaptation can stay. =D

A sequel was also announced, if it wasn't said in this thread already. (but it's not like the ending didn't give it away)

War of the Worlds 9/10

Great movie. In the middle of the movie I was thinking wtf? how are they going to end this. Nobody better "swing away" or I'm throwing shit at the screen. But, it held out pretty good in the end, however I think a doom and gloom ending would have been better.

War of the Worlds - 3/10

The massive plot oversights were just too cheesy for even me.

Spoilers below!

The aliens planned this attack for so long and left their takeover equipment buried from a million years before (which we'd somehow never found in all our digging). Then they waited until we were stronger and chose to attack in machines that were outdated by a million years. To top it off there is leap in logic where they can travel through space, have advanced shields we can't penetrate, but somehow don't have fucking infrared or thermal sensors. Instead they rely on spotlights and extensible camera arms which can't see people hiding in shadows :icon27:

I just couldn't get past those points enough to enjoy the movie

again, they tried to update the story of Wells and be faithfull to it as well. So it contains many loopholes

Sin City, great movie, best comic book adaptation so far. I really like how they made the blood white against a dark background - exactly like it is in the comics. 9/10.

Batman Begins

not dead accurate to the comic but it didn't have to be. Bale does batman incredibly well.

Xenosaga - The Animation - 4/10

ok drawings, the typical, chlicheesque post evangelion references to western religions, random wannabe german names thrown all over.

they even had a guy called "Hornst" :icon19: :icon19:
