"hitting 150k deaths" is one way of saying "torpedoing orange gimp's re-election chances"

Prediction: The vaccine is produced, released, and then half the people won’t take it.

I’m hearing this more and more. I think we’re going to have a real hard time getting people to take it...

2/3rds of the people is the critical mass. As long as 66% get vaccinated we should be done with it.

thing is though, vaccines only work against existing strains. if it mutates, you still get sick

And if it's anything like a flu vaccine, it won't prevent you from getting it, it might just reduce the severity of it. Better than nothing, but not the magic barrier some people attribute to vaccines.

Yeah, this is the important thing to remember. As long as there are anti-vax morons out there, it allows the virus opportunity to mutate and invalidate any potential vaccine.
It's all very well saying "let them get sick and die", but the longer the virus is able to remain viable, even in a relatively small population, the bigger the chance it mutates and we're back to square one.

We will probably have to get a new shot every year or so for some time to come. Just like the normal flue-shot should be taken annually.
I had never taken the shot against the normal flue. Just 'cause. But I will take the anti-sars-cov2 shot anytime it is necessary.

I nominate these people for a Darwin award
A new report today from the CDC that looked at 15 adults who drank hand sanitizer found to contain methanol spells out the consequences of this in clearer terms: 4 people died and 3 people are now blind. And this may only be the tip of the iceberg, with many other deaths possibly not reported due to this toxicologic emergency.

It's tragic that the education system failed these people so badly, and that my government was so incompetent that it gave dangerous advice to desperate people. So much avoidable suffering made even worse by that spray-tanned buffoon. :(

Yeah but all Americans should vote Trump 2020 because it would make a good statement about Biden not being an ideal candidate.

That's what YGP told me.

It wasn’t the education system that told them to drink sanitizer. It was social media. Fuck Facebook...

Well... Judging from the outside it seems like general education is really a problem in the US. What's shown in "Idiocracy" does not seem so far off. And there seems to be a broadly shared anti-intellectual sentiment.

No, but it didn't do any good sharpening peoples' critical thinking skills around here. Social media hasn't made a bunch of people in other countries drink hand sanitizer to my knowledge....

SM really can change people. I had the opportunity to watch some close relative drift away into the "conspiracy-bubble".
The Gates and generell "Corona is Fake"- bubble.
I can't reach that person anymore. He's gone to never-never-land.

He did have issues before. In hindsight, control over his circumstances seemed extraordinarily important to him.
This situation stripped him bare of any personell control. He just couldn't deal with that.
So he became convinced that someone or even better a system must be working against what he accepts as the norm. In other words, he's just not mentally able to just ride with this situation.
Unfortunately there are a lot of german SM-channels of every political niche that feed with all kinds of bullshit surrounding the situation trying to catch such instable persons.

Maybe instable is the wrong word. People who are kind of lost in this situation.

Not being familiar with the term SM other than "sadomasochism", that post reads a little weird.

... and I saw this somewhere, thought it fitting.

The spread of Covid-19 is based on two factors:

1. How dense the population is.

2. How dense the population is.
