Using Quake 3 1.09 & ioquake3 to recreate sp

I'm planning on doing a full recreation of the single player campaign using the :q3: IHV Revival & ioquake3 pak0.pk3 files. Can this be done?

First: no you can't without probably breaking EULA's and intellectual property laws and such.
Second: why would you even want to? Quake 3 is only $5 or something. Buy it if you want it.
