All finished. 3,420mi. 19.5mpg and average speed of 47mph.

random thoughts...
Road construction fucking sucked. No detours so you had to wait 20 minutes while they alternated a single lane of traffic for 5 miles.
Going to the Sun Road through GNP was still closed due to plowing. Had to swing south to get around to the other side. That sucked. They get 80ft of snow on some parts. pics
Wyoming is beautiful country but anywhere there were humans it looked like a run down shithole. Alberta was beautiful.

How busy is RMNP? Some areas of Yellowstone were like a bad day at six flags (old faithful/yellowstone falls). Huge coach buses full of chinese tourist who were way overdressed for outdoor activities. It only got better as you traveled to more remote areas.

I read that the number one cause of death in Glacier was drownings and the number one cause in Yellowstone was traffic accidents.

Also how are the bears? There were a couple trails closed in Glacier due to grizzly activity.

I might do Utah/Colorado next summer.

RMNP is one of the busiest parks, regardless of the time of year, due to its proximity to Denver. Being the middle of Summer, I'd be willing to bet it's fucking packed.

Bears aren't too bad in Colorado. They are around, but they're just Black Bears (they may look brown, but they're still a Black Bear species). Black Bears are scared of humans and attacks are extremely rare...

Right, saw a half dozen or so black bears. Only one small grizzly, but in hindsight it could've been a black bear with lighter fur. It ran away pretty quick. Grizzly signs are plastered everywhere and they don't suggest hiking without bear spray.

Going away for 4 days. I'll be celebrating Canada's 150th year by camping, canoeing, climbing by the Bruce Peninsula.

I've seen a few, crazy.

In Jackson, on that mountain in the third and forth pic. Most of the snow was gone, so on the lower runs they converted the lifts to carry up mountain bikes. People would go up with their bikes and ride the trails down. Looked fun as hell. Maybe you have something similar over where you are.

Yep, it's called 'uplift' but because we don't have the mountains there's only one large enough to have a ski lift in Scotland. We put the bikes on a bike trailer that can take about 28 bikes at a time. Great fun it can be dangerous as my lower intestine found out in May.

On this note. Why don't they make it worth buying the annual pass for the national parks? I wish you could buy a lifetime pass. My wife and I are trying to hit all 59 and I'd gladly pay a good bit for a lifetime. At $20 a park I'm sure they could make it worth it...

*shurgs*

idk, we paid the $80 for the annual all park admission. Worked for Badlands, Rushmore, Devils Tower, Tetons, Yellowstone and Glacier. I think we got our monies worth. I agree though, a lifetime pass would be great.
