Pure speculation.

I doubt Whiskey's really gone anywhere, probably just standing in front of his house waiting for the mailman.

Axbaby bailed after admitting he supported Drumpf. He didn't have a response to the criticism and got embarrassed. I'm sure he's cheering the orange clown on with his black teenage girlfriend in Africa.

my point is that the cognitive dissonance exists right across the spectrum. people quickly forget that this is a virus and therefore doesn't care why you were wherever you were when it infected you

Yeah because protesting for a haircut is the exact same thing as protesting hundreds of years of inequality, oppression and institutional racism.

Look, having protests like these isn't ideal from a pandemic point of view, but this pot has boiled over, arguably partly because of the virus, and it's unreasonable to ask all these people demonstrating in american streets to just "hold that thought" for half a year or maybe just, well, indefinitely.
I realize you may be specifically talking about people protesting in the UK, as you've been vocally opposed to that in the other thread as well. I'll leave that in the middle here, as I'm not too aware of what's going on in the UK right now. In the US, however, I can understand all these people going out and protesting despite the dangers of COVID-19 so well. Is it, from a health standpoint, the smartest thing to do during a pandemic? No, I guess not. But I do understand where it's all coming from and why they do it, especially because protests like these are a largely unplanned outcry from society. The main goal here is not defying the government's wishes regarding COVID, while those haircut protestors are.

Honestly, to me it's unfathomable to put the two groups in the same category.

Of course John Oliver has a thing to say as well.

Personally, I was deeply touched by the clip of the woman at the end. The cynics among you will probably do it away as acting and drama and everything, but I can only imagine what she shows here is exactly how many black people feel.
If someone's interested in the full video of her, it's available here.

America has a gun- and a bible-problem and especially within some departements of the police force, as it seems.

From what I've read, defunding is a little more complicated than it would first appear, and may actually be a good thing.
On the surface, it sounds like you just want to take money away from cops.

The reality is seemingly somewhat different.

The main gist being that police funding has increased as policing's definition has changed in order to accomodate fields that police traditionally haven't been reponsible for.

The end result has seen a decrease in funding for those specialised fields that the police are now dealing with, yet without the proper training or expertise.

By defunding the police and taking away those responsibilities, the money can then be re-invested in individual government bodies whose sole purview is one of those responsibilities.

In turn, cops go back to just being cops, and not confused people with guns trying to be jacks-of-all-trades.

Forgive me if I've mangled it somewhat, but does that sound about right?
