Sheesh Geoff, take it easy. I’m worried about you. Think happy thoughts. Tell us about the lake house and Lambo you recently bought...

I've never seen Geoff this angry before.

Nice looking place though! Out of curiosity, did you commission the entire thing or do any part of it yourself? I've always thought that building a house would be a sweet project but I figure you'd need a lot of spare time to do it properly. Is there a landscaping plan for later?

I'm pretty sure he'll leave the area surrounding his house as a barren wasteland, just to achieve that extra Geoff factor. Next up is an above ground pool.

Most of it is contracted out. I’ve done a lot of the work outside, running water lines, installing hydrants, septic system, things like that. All the skilled labor I wanted done correctly, so I left it to the professionals. I could have done more, but like you said, it takes time. And that’s something I don’t have a lot of.

Landscaping is about to commence now that they’re pretty well done with the outside of the house. I didn’t want to start until they were done driving all over it. I’ve been leveling the yard and getting it ready for sod or sprigs (bermuda)...

Thanks, I like the windows too. It did set us back about 7 weeks though because they were a custom order, black exterior/white interior. But now I kinda wish we would have done black interior. The white looks good, but the black really pops...

Ashamed of what? Bare, unpainted cabinets with no countertops? Bare concrete floor with no tile? There’s nothing to see yet. Jesus, calm down. If I had known you’d be this mad I wouldn’t have posted anything...

Looks good Xeros

Had to look back at the old pics to remember that wasn't a stone chimney! Curious, is it just the flue pipe in the column or do you steal the space back internally?

If it's a standard US construction technique, then yeah I don't know about it because I'm not US based... lol i guess?
Just interested in how it works internally if the outer stone chimney is purely for looks.

The column is strictly for the flue.

The fireplace is a wood burning Elite 44 from Fireplace Xtrordinair...

The column is hollow, other than the flue and insulation...

I think he's asking if there's a cavity between the flue and the walls of the column/chimney. It would seem like a waste of space if that's the case.

Nice job on the house. Bet you can't wait for the interior. You should hire an excavator and do the groundwork yourself. They're fun as fuck.

Yeah, we have some of our own equipment that I operate. I rented a small trackhoe to dig the electric lines and a ditch witch to do the water lines. Good fun... :D
