i may be way off base here, but i suspect this entire thread is a ruse, enacted in response to the OP, and no actual redesign is in the offing

I'd say that it's stood the test of time quite well..

Liking the phpBB upgrade (great job @Doomer and @raw). I'd say a lot of effort has gone into preserving the original charm of the site over the last 20+ years.
