Is there a difference between DDR2 and DDR3 ram.
I'm building a new system so I may go with the same parts that Amidy posted.
I bought a OCZ 700 watt PS, but I'm going to bring it back and get the 850 watt instead.
I'll probably just get the same board and processor.
I just bought 2 Seagate 320GB Barracuda SATA 3Gb/s - HD-ST3320620AS hard drives. Those will be setup as a striped raid.
And I'm not sure what ram to get. Maybe something like this.
I'm not sure if I want to get a new case or not.
I have a nice Sonata case and another case I have is 1.5x as big as the Sonata case.

the few and far between revierws for DDR3 that are out state that the current lineup of DDR3 is faster then the lineup of DDR2-800 @ cas 4..
i sont know how much that states in its intirity, i was just suggesting it because the push is going to start soon to go DDR3.. And its beter to have it now then later

This will be an expensive system.
The ram will be 600 alone.

This is about the motherboard that Amidy posted.dzjepp wrote:I've looked at newegg before, and couldn't see a mobo with ddr3 support
4 x DIMM, max. 8GB, DDR3 1333*/1066 / 800 MHz, non-ECC, un-buffered memory
Dual channel memory architecture
* The chipset officially supports the memory frequency up to DDR3 1066MHz. Tuned by ASUS Super Memspeed Technology, this motherboard natively supports up to DDR3 1333MHz
Please refer to http://www.asus.com or user manual for Memory QVL.

Alot of the games out there still have a hard time with SLI, so i am yet to get on the ban wagon.. they are getting ALOT beter, but again... there are still issues
But yea, you could do it that way as well.
edit: everyone has there own vir of what going "all out" is.. So keep that in mind when looking what i posted

i can't see why you would need more than 700 watts unless you're running four video cards, multiple peltiers, and some sort of NORAD missle tracking system.FragaGeddon wrote:Well I ended up just tossing the 700 watt PS into the computer.
judging by the load-temperature chart in the manual; my 550w never gets much 1/2 load. even with the added draw of a water pump.
