1.94600 US dollars to 1 Pound (http://www.xe.com)

therefore.....

£1.21 for 1 litre of diesel for my BMW 320D SE here in the UK

1.21 x 4.54 = £5.49 for 1 gallon

£5.49 = $10.64

What I am trying to say here to all the fucking whinging american fuckwits complaining about the cost of fuel is that I have absolutely no fucking sympathy for you whatsoever. I only pray for the fucking day YOU have to pay for fuel at 10 fucking dollars for a gallon and see how you fucking like it!!!

Assholes.
The whole point of the thread wasn't to complain about prices it was to show how a whole town of 75k people were tricked into almost mass hysteria when someone put up the wrong price for an hour. Without any question as to why only a single station increased their price by a dollar, everyone assumed the worst and phoned every person they knew as if the end of the world was near.

But since you bring it up....what was your gas price 8 years ago? And you do realize the cost of fuel increases the cost of every product we buy right? And that the cost of fuel is not based on production costs but the value of the dollar combined with the stock market? And that its not our fault your government fucks you when it comes to gas prices while ours has helped us?

lol you must be paying through the asshole in company car tax for your super duper Golf GTI. What are your C02 emissions per kilometre?

Meanwhile here's me with my company car allowance of £21,600 over four years. Bought a nice BMW 320D with 153 grams per kilometre which in turn costs £145 a year in road tax. Plus I get around 600 miles out of the tank and get around 60mpg when cruising on the motorway in sixth gear.

So what I am really trying to say here you fucking idiot is that you can take your stupid poxy little boy racer car and shove it up your ass.

EDIT: @ peenyuh
The only part of this that I don't agree with is the opinion that I think I as an American have more right to cheaper gas than the rest of the world. 'Cause I don't. I think it's ridiculous for Brits and the rest of Europe to have to pay such high prices for gas. I think that, more than OPEC, our governments are responsible for what we pay for gas. My biggest problem is that if I stand alone at the gates of the whitehouse and demand King Bush II bring in some releif from fuel prices, I get arrested and labelled a kook. If I am there with 50 million others, some legitimate weight might just be put into it.

ALSO: Hey mancubus...eat a fat one you whinny-assed non-American.

Im happy that in Japan prices are only just above those of the US.
Im even happier that I have a company car, and that the majority of my travelling expenses are paid for by my employer

EDIT: @ peenyuh
We have proven reserves of nearly 21 billion barrels, yet we only produce a little over 5 million barrels per day. We're also the world's top importer of oil. We're not barely an oil producing nation. There are strict limits set on how much we pump so the price can be controlled. OPEC does the exact same thing. YOU are the naive one here, it's been very clearly stated by pretty much everyone in the oil industry worldwide that production is controlled to manipulate prices. It's basic commodities trading, dude. Who the hell else do you blame other than producers? Natural disasters notwithstanding, the oil producers are the ones that set the prices. What happened when Venezuela agreed to help the US break the arab oil embargo in the 70s? Saudi Arabia said "fuck you" and turned the taps open wide, causing the price of oil to tumble, and Venezuela's economy collapsed.
Nowhere have I said that the US has a right to cheap oil. My point is that the market is very tightly controlled, as are all the resources. I've also said before that I want all the oil gone so the US will stop giving a fuck about the Middle East. But, I'm well aware of the fact that low prices lead to over-consumption, pollution, and movement away from development of alternative fuels technologies.
If the market will bear the price, charge it. It's a commodity. The problem lies in the fact that our entire nation is built around petroleum products and that gives the oil companies an extremely unfair advantage in the market. They can literally tell the consumer to go fuck themselves, Washington will laugh and pocket more dough, and we have no short-term choice but to grab out ankles and take it up the ass. So, yeah, I get pissed when the price of oil gets jacked up because of some laughable reason like fear of Nigerian rebels possibly thinking about maybe considering attacking some facility that has an ad for Shell Oil within 1000 yards of it.

Go pick up a copy of Armed Madhouse by Greg Palast. You'll start to get a better idea of the relationship between Big Oil and the US government, particularly the Bush administration.

What kind of shitty fucked up company do you work for? A fucking diesel Nissan Almera!

I could have taken a Jaguar XK but the trade up price would have made the novelty wear off pretty quickly.

Other cars I could have chosen from included Volvo, Mercedes, BMW, Land Rover and some other shitty ones like Vauxhall (mind you I would have taken the VX220 and not a fucken Vectra!)

I paid $3.97/gal on Monday and saw $3.99/gal at every other gas station I passed on the way to work. It's come down a few cents but only a few. I'm predicting $4.50 by the end of summer.
