Mars Landing, May 25th

Post by Deathshroud »

This is really exciting, and complex. I can't wait to see how it turns out.

being on nasas site... and this being beside the video
Video: Phoenix Mars Lander: Entry Descent and Landing
It will be a real nail-biter on May 25, 2008, for engineers, as the Phoenix spacecraft performs a series of challenging maneuvers right before it lands on Mars.
I don't think so

edit: I like the sounds the letters make, d3 all over again.

It's amazing that the last bit of that landing is going to be done all with AI.

Nah, he just spews the most brain-bendingly stupid shit. Honestly DTS, where the FUCK is the "AI" in that landing sequence?

when we wipe ourselves out, the next intelligent being in the solar system is going to think that robots ruled mars.

When the jets activate they said the descent has to be controlled, that the craft has to steady itself. They even went on to say that they can't control it from Earth once the landing's started cause of the delay.

Yes. It most certainly will be.

As I suspected, you're too stupid to know the difference between a 'control system' and 'artificial intelligence'.

Well can you explain what the difference is? Or are you too stupid? :)

A control system is a set of directives and contingencies for a given task. An AI can do these things, but can also scream in terror as it hurdles toward appearant death on a lonely rock so far from home..... :tear:

I'm an electrical engineer that did a concentration in control systems theory and robotics. You're a proven retard. Do I need to break this down any further, or can you handle the arithmetic here?

I'll be nice only because you seem excited about this dts.. it's basically autoleveling coupled with radar that will land the craft. It would be like when an airplane goes into autopilot, and then the autopilot would also land the plane.

BUT TEH AERPLANE HAZ TEH ARTIFISHIL BRAINTELLIGENTZ.

If he'd just asked if it was an AI system vs a fairly complex control system, I'd have gone the andyman route. But no, fucking Dultron has to be his usual idiot self and make retarded pronouncements as if he has the slightest clue as to what the fuck he's on about.

edit: He still won't understand that, pandaman. He'll act like he does, though.

LOL. "Why did they program me to feel pain?!?!?!?!"

To have true AI you need to consider the Turing Test and all of its derivatives. Do you think it is AI that causes your check engine light to turn on?

You achieve AI when a human being can not tell if it's interacting with another person or program.

edit: Computer Science in the house, bitch.
