Anyone else tried GRID yet?
Anyone else tried GRID yet?
Nothing about it stands out too much, but as an arcade racer its not too bad. I've noticed some issues with framerate on the 360 though (occasional hiccups during races and often during replays). Haven't had a chance to try all the race types yet.

Re: Anyone else tried GRID yet?
Just finished playing it on PC,
and honestly, i HOPE the controlls are beter on the Xbox/PS3 the damned cars turn in like 8000Lb Semi trucks at any sort of speed, then when they are going slow, they turn in like a two wheeled bike.
Beond that, the controls are sloppy for input. if i get on the breaks on the breaking pad's, within a half second they are hardlocked and i have a one way ticket to the fucking wall..
i'll be putting my Xbox Controller on my puter again and see if i can get it going a little beter. though, that wont fix the Breaking/gas issues due to the Xbox controller driver not allowing progressive sensitivity on the triggers :/
p.s. When you are racing, does anyone let you in when you have the line? or do you need to treat EACH and EVERY race like a Distruction Durby?

lol Amidy
I guess I'm gonna have to upload some of my racing footage to show you how easy it is. The game's fucking fantastic btw. I'm just waiting for a mod to get rid of the excessive bloom and yellow tint in the game. I could do it myself but I'm too damn lazy.

Mazduh, to me this is nothing more then a need for speed wana-be with a few add'd twists..
as i said, i'll hook up the Box controller ( if i can find it ) today and see if it changes my outcome on the game at all..

Re: Anyone else tried GRID yet?
Got it for PC, and it's the best racing game I have ever played.
There, I said it.
There is nothing about this game that I don't like.
I use a PS2 controller as USB input device and that works great (even though there's no analogue brk/accelerate that way, of course, but that somehow works for me).
Love the physics, let go of the gas before a tight corner, just a little drift and then slam the gas back on and rip away again. Awesome.
Looks better, yet runs smoother than Dirt, the sense of speed is amazing, really impressive.
Even with 19 cars in front, it keeps running as smoothly as possible with a 1920x1200 res at max settings.
Superlatives escape me.
Codemasters pulled off the culminating point in the genre.

Re: Anyone else tried GRID yet?
Drifting is hard and the graphics are quite awesome
Good game from what I have played so far...

Re: Anyone else tried GRID yet?
It looks decent but controls sluggishly. The replays are cool. Definite pass.

Need For Speed has become nothing more than a laughingstock that tries to desperately appeal to the "omg tunerz" contingency.AmIdYfReAk wrote:Mazduh, to me this is nothing more then a need for speed wana-be with a few add'd twists..
Amidy, I've seen lots of similar complaints from people who just plain suck at this game

Re: Anyone else tried GRID yet?
i don't care for how it controls in the demo. they wanted to make it sim with arcade elements but failed. it's arcade all the way, imo
Re: Anyone else tried GRID yet?
It *is* very much arcade, but not to such an extent as NFS and Flatout are.+JuggerNaut+ wrote:i don't care for how it controls in the demo. they wanted to make it sim with arcade elements but failed. it's arcade all the way, imo
You actually have to break for corners, some times, hehe.
Then gain, I don't think Codemasters had real simmy intentions with this one.
Still playing Forza2 on xbox for the simmage, though.
Re: Anyone else tried GRID yet?
if you play flatout without breaking, youre doing something massively wrong.

braking.
@planb: codemasters had said it's somewhere between sim and arcade, but it's all arcade to me. i wish you could choose between the two in game.

lol, blame amidy, he started it.
Re: Anyone else tried GRID yet?
My 360 pad works perfectly fine with this game. On PC.
Honestly, when it coems to pads, the 360 USB pad is by far the best pad you can buy for a PC. Its just awesome.

Re: Anyone else tried GRID yet?
Memph, normal 360 pad (wireless) and a wireless dongle FTW
Re: Anyone else tried GRID yet?
Well obviously, but that costs so much money
I wish they had BT instead, that way my 360 pad would work with my PS3 and PC then

Re: Anyone else tried GRID yet?
PS2 pad here and it's fine.Memphis wrote:I want this but there's no way in hell i'm playing in on keyboard. Gotta get a pad for Trackmania anyway, it's almost given me full on arthritis
Seems from the posts here a PS2 or Xbox pad is not the way to go. Would a proper PC pad give you analogue acceleration?
Re: Anyone else tried GRID yet?
the demo was ok... but I'm way too involved in playing a real racing game to buy the full version.
Re: Anyone else tried GRID yet?
uhm then just download it moron...
Re: Anyone else tried GRID yet?
That is getting old with me too. Can't tell you how many times I've got the line and end up getting shoved right into the wall. The AI seems to be borrowing from the destruction derby mode (which is part of the game) for all the races.AmIdYfReAk wrote: p.s. The only 'sim' part I feel with this game is slightly in the cornering in that you do need to think about the lines and your speed/braking a bit more than something like PGR.
I'm enjoying it but it doesn't compare to my all-time favorite arcade racers PGR2 and PGR3 (I suck at sim racing games, but with pgr3 I hit top 10 on xbl for one of the timed tracks so I'm biased because it was one I was actually good at..) PGR4 was a big disappointment because they changed things that weren't broken like the kudos system.
Re: Anyone else tried GRID yet?
I like Grid, but I cant play it for shit...
The only way I can describe it, is GTA4 cars...
Its almost like the tracks made of Ice...? I mean, I played PGR to death, beat GT1/2/3, and enjoyed Forza, yet this...? I just cant do it...

Re: Anyone else tried GRID yet?
maybe you shouldnt yank down on the trigger. thats usually the reason why people suck at gta4 driving
Re: Anyone else tried GRID yet?
I been playing it and I fucking love it. Only the demo so far though, I'm waiting till the weekend to go pick it up.
Re: Anyone else tried GRID yet?
If you find some good racers to race with lines and getting bumped around is a minor nusance and you get some awsome racing in return. I've been doing laps with someone about as good as I am and it's amazingly fun, litteraly only inches between the cars the whole way through.
