Hello, i would like some help please...
Hey everyone, i am new here and i would like some help from you guys. I will start a project on making a standalone game based on the Q3 engine and i would like to know if anyone is interested. My main concept is having the fast paced action of Quake 3 but having the weapons and gametypes like Counter Strike. I know this may seem pretty impossible but i would like to gather a team; a team which would be interested in helping me out with this and i have some experience with the Quake 3 engine and i know a bit about programming/coding and a tiny bit of modeling. I need to know if anyone is interested in helping me out or if i'm just going to fail this all on my own lol. I have just started off with the engine, i have compiled evereything and i have just tried to make some small changes guided by code3arena to the engine and sourcecode to get a feel and i have chosen this to be my engine to work on. There would be a lot of things i'ld want to add, mainly to improve 2D and 3D graphical rendering and sound. If anyone is interested or you want to know more, please ask, thanks.

Not to discourage you but you might want to read this first: http://www.quake3world.com/forum/viewto ... 16&t=39859

Yea well ok, i'll start it as this. I need help for someone to help me out in coding a better model format other than md3. Perhaps MDL Half Life SMD) that's what i would really like. Any other high polys, verts and animation-supported formats would be good too, as long as it would support high detailed models with animations. I would also need help on lighting; i would like to add HDR (High Dynamic Range). This would be brilliant if someone could start me off with. I have access to all my sourcecode of the executeable and cgame qagame and ui. I am no expert when it comes to mapping so i'll go to that field once i have completed the above projects. If there is anyone at all that could even help me out that would be great. Thanks.

Take a look at XReal: http://xreal.sourceforge.net/
If it's eye candy you are after, it might be a better start than the stock Q3 or ioquake3 source. At the very least, you can re-use its MD5 support.

sorry to tell you that but you need to know; xreal is still experimental and doesn't work well on some setups.
you may want to see other engines. qfusion(used in warsow) for example it is close to quake3 and has a toolchains for skeletal models.
