Funny how 99% of people don't understand why someone would want to do something like that.

Maybe YGP wants to advertise this across the internet in the hope his house never gets broken into.
If someone did break in I hope they are ready for a fucked up fat terminator coming at them.

Well considering you put quotation marks around those statements as if someone had said that, I am in fact wondering what you're talking about.

And what percentage of that 99 has actually went to the range and tried it out? I think most who would try it probably would actually enjoy it. What's wrong with going to the range and having a good time by firing off a few rounds. It's a hobby. I dont see why some of you can't understand that. What's the big deal?

The reason I put quotation marks around them was because they're the old, tired standby excuses for buying guns...even weapons that look like assault rifles with a bipod mount.

Oh, right, stereotyping.

I don't know anyone who says shot like you quoted. And I live here. But I'm sure you have more credibility...

There's nothing wrong with firing a few rounds off at a range. in fact you can do that in the UK with assault rifles. what we don't do is equip the guns with tactical gear and keep them in the home with live rounds. it's fucking pointless, there's NO possible justification in the home for it at all.
the tactical equipment added to those weapons was designed to aid soldiers in a war zone. enabling the user to put modern sights, scopes, grips on etc.
the only reason YGP added the parts is down to some macho bullshit you or him can't see through, it's normal to you.
it's fucking pathetic, it really is. it's everything that's wrong with the US and everything that people hate about the US.

I hope you can see the irony in what you are saying...

I bought an assault rifle for the same reason you bought a high end camera. I upgraded the rifle for the same reason you upgrade your camera. That reason is, I want to have the best experience during my hobby as I can. You don't need a high end camera and I don't need an assault rifle. I'm not going to become some camando crime fighting killer. Just like you'll never become a professional photographer. In reality, your camera is just as likely to kill someone as my rifle.

Lots of people spend money on hobbies. Shit, a lot of the people here upgrade their cars, motor cycles, etc.. All of those people are wasting fuel or potentially putting other people at risk when they race along the roadways. Why not give them shit? Criticize the people with outrageous A/V system for ruining their ears. How about all the people who upgrade their PC's beyond belief? None of those people "need" any of that and could be considered retarded for spending that money on something so unnecessary in today's unpredictable economy.

Why not practice something that you Euros are so quick to preach to the US? Tolerance. Just because you don't understand or agree with something doesn't make it wrong.

joking aside, and i think you're OK. i'd go for a beer with you any day.

But what you're posting is so alien to me and I'm sure most people here.
The FAL is a vile weapon, it can dismember people ffs. I just can't get my head around why someone would even want to keep on IN THE HOME, never mind keep one and dress it up.

can't you see this from another point of view? There's every possibility that someone enters your home, over powers you and uses that weapon against your family and there's no way you can deny that.

In terms of home defense there just don't seem to be a large number of scenarios where the gun really helps...there are some, no doubt, but from a statistical standpoint I'd still argue there are more that the gun is either not helpful or a liability. But I don't think most people buy them just for that reason and if someone wants the gun for target shooting, trap shooting, hunting, etc., more power to them. I just know a few idiots that have bought 45s and gotten CWPs so they could go around feeling like dirty harry and always go on about how 'anyone who breaks into my house is in for a world of hurt.' idiots.

An assualt rifle is NOT a "home defense weapon" in any sense of the words. It's an expensive, loud and dangerous object. Not unlike many other things that people possess. Home defense weapons are pistols or shot guns. Guns that can effectively be used in spontaneous and/or close range situations.

Now lets toss out that info and get down to the heart of your comment. I like most Americans don't have a problem with people owning guns. This obviously make us different from you and your culture. That fact, doesn't make you or me right. It makes us different. Furthermore, I can find as many points in favor of owning firearms as you can find against them. My thing is about being a responsible owner. Being responsible negates any reasonable arguement against firearms.

I'll get a beer with ya when I visit in the next year or two.

Gramps then you'd agree with me that the jackasses who brag about how secure their house is because they own all sorts of guns give responsible owners a bad image among a lot of people, no?

It just depends on the person. That's like saying all Jews are cheap, etc. Stereotypes....

I rely on door locks and a monitored security system.
