Because consumers are fucking idiots and have allowed this trend to continue/get worse.
That's true i guess :(
Also, there's no one place for people to voice their displeasure with a product. I mean, yeah there's the internets, but that's a big fragmented noisy place.

It has also been bugging me a bit that if you buy a wobbly table you can return it to the point of sale or if they wont take it you still have 4-6 weeks (depending on your particular western nation) to return faulty products to the manufacturer.
Games got so draconian with the piracy war though that every point of sale (even steam) has zero refund policy. So you can't return your wobbly table to the point of sale; yet petitioning the publisher for a refund? what does that get you?
So as game consumers bitching in the intertubes is the only recourse... and they wonder why people pirate games. Gotta be more civil to the actual paying customers.

I guess what I`m saying is that people shouldn`t be so fanboyish and not buy it the first 10 minutes that it`s available. If you`re one of those morons that MUST stay on the cutting edge and you absolutely MUST buy a game the day it comes out then you deserve some of the bullshit and bugs that come with it. I think Apple has proved that beyond a doubt with their iPhone and iPad...lol the retards getting the first version of anything. I simply cannot bring myself to feel sorry for people who can`t help themselves when they know full well they`ll be paying to be beta testers. I think if nobody buys their games the first few weeks they`re on the market (and waiting to hear bug feedback from the first wave of buyers) then perhaps publishers won`t be so rushed to get their products out.

I mean...that is how capitalism works: good products are bought while shitty, broken products are not.

I absolutely NEVER get a game until it`s been out at least a few weeks. I monitor the forums or general internets to see if the game is fucked or not (or if there`s a patch). I guess a more moderate, prudent approach to buying something you can`t return is a good habit to have...but I seem to be in the minority.

Vote with your wallet. Let games stew for a while (letting dumber people be the guinea pigs) and then make a decision to buy.

you don't see a problem with that cynical approach?
I see this all as a fundamental issue caused by the no-return policies. If people could return a fucked up product it would certainly give producers more incentive to do it right the first time. I feel like the days of tolerance for broken games and waiting for the first patch should be a thing of the past now that this is the biggest entertainment industry out there.
If you went to see a film that was missing the second reel you'd get your ticket price back.
If you bought a CD that mysteriously skipped track 2, you'd get your money back.
Games need more quality, less quantity. I'm actually happy that GT5 keeps getting delayed rather than released broken.

gg for over simplifying your examples. I'm not sure why most releases don't set up some type of public beta testing period, but if you want more solid games right out of the gate, you might need to pay a little more for it.
Fair enough?

Some stores have a no return policy on ALL items...all you can do is exchange it. It's the same with games. You CAN exchange a shit, broken CD/game for another one if you're dissatisfied. Some stores have different policies. Don't shop at the stores that don't allow you to exchange/refund items.

You get your money back at a movie if you leave within the first 30 minutes. After that they keep your money, whether you walk out or not.

Nice try, retard.

If you don't know the difference between people objectively reporting bugs/problems and people giving subjective opinions on gameplay, etc then you're dumber than everyone thinks.

I've uploaded vids of some bugsthat are destroying the game for me, because I'm fucking hardcore nerdy like that...

Not being able to fire, missing computer terminals and lock pick screens, not being able to search dead bodies, the lions, the tigers, oh my...

Anyway, they are on my YouTube channel. Fuck you if you think I'm giving you the link. I'll just get bum raped to death because I sound like a cunt. Which I do but thats besides the point. FUCK YOU :@

All I can say is thank god for the console/cheats. They have literally saved me so many times from game-killing bugs.

Case in point? The interogation room at an NCR camp, where my followers (Rex and Boone) decided to get stuck in the room, with no way to free them. I then had missions where I needed another follower (Cass/Rose) and couldn't recruit her as apparently, the ghost of Rex and Boone were still next to me.

*open console*
*unlock*
*ask them to stop following me*

Sorted. I've also had to ressurect a dead character to finish a mission. I didn't kill them, they literallly just died.

Mad shit. Besides this, i'm having a lot of fun. But it really is unfinished in many places. Another month or two to polish it up and it could have been so much better.

Except for people with extreme "MUST FUCKING DO EVERYTHING ZOMG!!!!" issues like me, that disables chevos, making it pretty annoying :(

That is, if they don't bug out on you in the first place :p

Its defo getting better now I'm, nearing the strip and doing more decent side quests but it still feels like a bit of a grind at times, which Fallout 3 never felt like.

And yeah, I always keep three hard saves, I'm just used to doing it every few minutes. I never depend on autosaves anyway, even more so in a game where doing something as complex as firing your weapon can crach your game and corrupt your save file.

Theres a sub-folder in the music folder on the PC version, which has "old/FO1" "old/FO2" etc.. I assume it has remixed versions of them.

I could have sworn I heard some Oblivion music in there too, when wandering in the wilderness.
