You can sit there and say I've never talked about it or argued with you directly about it. Go right ahead you stupid cunt.
OK Captain Angry Pants. Yes, I said that we've never had any other discussions about this, ever. MURRRRR.

You are not making any points, you're just repeating stupid, subjective bullshit over and over. That's not an argument, that's a chimp flinging shit.

I actually have been discussing this issue with the rational people in this thread (e.g. Eraser and Chunk), we just can't count GFY among that group.
lol no you haven't
EtUL wrote:dickwaving. they haven't even been discussing anything, just trading insults and hypotheticals
A discussion? Are you serious? That's been my whole fucking point this ENTIRE thread....

Here's why:
Nightshade wrote:I have no new arguments here, nothing has changed.
Nightshade wrote:You think that self-defense is not enough reason to own a gun? OK, that's your opinion, but do you really think that someone is always going to be there to protect you?
Nightshade wrote:My boss went through a concealed carry class last year and he said the cop teaching it told them about stats showing that simply showing a gun in a potentially violent situation defused it. That's not a false sense of security.
Yeah...we know...that's why this is a waste of time.
There hasn't been a "discussion" on this topic since page one. Instead whenever someone tries to bring a counter-point to the madness, we get this:
Nightshade wrote:oh yeah FUCKING STUPID.
Nightshade wrote:...YOU FUCKING RETARDS.
Nightshade wrote:FFS, you're as bad as my ex-wife. :olo:
Nightshade wrote:Hmm, where have I heard these tired-ass "arguments" before? Oh, that's right, from every single statist, ultra-lefty, "someone else will always be there to protect me" fool I've ever met.
Nightshade wrote:It's only moronic if you're too dumb to understand it. I am not going to break it down for you, so if you don't get it, we'll just move on.
Nightshade wrote:Well, that's because you're both cut from the same bolt of incredibly stupid cloth. If you two assclowns feel the need to lump me in with the right-wing gun nut retards, go ahead.
Nightshade wrote:...you're pretty much just spewing irrelevant bullshit.
Nightshade wrote:Actually quite calm, so I have no idea why you're telling me to chill.
Blah blah blah...I could go on but that's just the first two pages...and none of those comments were even directed at me. You know...serious discussion. And then he complains about insults....

And of course after several years and several pages of this un-ending bullshit, when I finally say "fuck you and your crazy arguments" then it's ME who doesn't want to discuss this in a mature, adult way? lol @ the morons

I spent some time in California earlier this year, and I fully expected to be drowned in a sea of fuckheaded, ignorant, obnoxious simpletons, such as the Americans I encounter in my home country and on the internet.

My re-education began at customs, when I was greeted by possibly the most polite and well-mannered person I had ever met up until that point. He wasn't half as polite as the woman in the place I rented my truck from though. It went on like that for my entire stay, encountering person after person who was each more polite than the last.

I cannot lie, it was the total opposite of what I expected, and I found I absolutely loved America.

People were so welcoming, friendly, and genuinely interested in conversing with strangers, it was amazing. I had a 45 minute conversation with someone on Laguna beach about photography.

Anyway, my point is that one thing that really scared me was knowing that many of these polite people owned weapons designed specifically to end lives. They possessed tools that had been machined solely for the task of killing other humans. They owned killing weapons.

I wouldn't be able to casually go about my day if I owned an AR-15. It's too much power for one person. Even when it was locked away in my cupboard, that kind of power would both excite and terrify me. The casual way these people go about their business, with a loaded weapon in their home or car "just in case" is astounding.

In a properly functioning society, the only people who should be in possession of guns are the people who shouldn't have them.

I just can't reconcile the idea that people could own a weapon of such ferocity and justify it.

If you think you need it, you should fly to England and I'll give you a tour of Brixton. We've got 14 year olds with Mac-10's in their schoolbags. Yet the teachers and parents aren't packing.

Civilised people do not need firearms.

I respect your opinion, your appreciation of America and the fact you can articulate your thoughts without berating the people you're speaking to. It's obvious that we come from different backgrounds. Our countries developed with different social, moral and government values. I could probably explain to you until I'm blue in the face why guns aren't evil. You could spend all day pointing out reasons no one should ever own a gun. I'm sure we'd both understand the other's point. But our cultural differences would keep us from completely identifying with each other. I get why the European culture doesn't think guns have a place in civilized society. And I don't think you're crazy for thinking that way. However, I believe the same respect should be extended to the American culture. We're all different. I'm sure members of remote Aboriginal tribes could come up with thousands of reasons why cars are evil too. That being said, we'll all just have to agree to disagree.

BTW, I'm glad you enjoyed your trip to the states. I hope to get across the pond one day myself.

Apparently now if I use profanity that means I'm directly insulting someone. Very well then. Oh, and some of those comments were indeed directed at you, but hey let's ignore that fact and the context because you think it supports your point. If you look at each of those statements you quoted in context you get a very different picture than the one you're trying to paint.

I'm not "complaining about insults", you stupidass. I'm pointing out that you're using them and not trying to have any sort of rational discussion. I've been responding in kind, but as I said a bit ago, yes, I have thrown the occasional barb. You are apparently the only one that has a fucking fit over it.

You refuse to acknowledge what you're doing or the way you're acting. You ignore any points you feel you can't directly refute, you quote shit out of context, and when asked something rather simple, your response is not anything resembling an answer and is quickly followed by "I'VE SAID THAT A MILLION TIMES ALREADY". Well guess what, dumbfuck? YOU HAVEN'T SAID ANYTHING AT ALL. All you're saying, in one form or another, is GUNS BAD, AMERICA DUMB. You are blaming inanimate objects, I'm blaming people. I mention this difference, you call me crazy and repeat GUNS BAD, AMERICA DUMB.

How did I ever think you were even remotely intelligent?

I am glad you had a great experience here, it's an awesome country as long as you're not in certain parts of major cities. I think, and this goes directly to the vast cultural gulf between our nations, that if you had owned/fired weapons like an AR-15, you'd not feel the way you do for long. I think it's a fine line between respect for the weapon due to exposure and "familiarity breeds contempt", but if you're not a psychopath then you don't cross that line.

The problem is finding just ways to keep said psychopaths from obtaining weapons in the first place. I agree that truly civilized people don't need guns, but we don't live in a civilized society. Until we fix all the underlying economic and societal issues that drive people to the point where they're willing to shoot each other, we'll not be close to civilized. This will be the case even if every gun on the planet instantly vanished.

This is why I call you crazy. Because the entire basis of this statement is indeed crazy. And yet, this is the entire basis of your argument.

You claim over and over again that paranoia is not the basis of your stance on gun control, but then you just keep giving the game away every time you revert back to saying such wonderfully sane things as "you need a gun just in case you wife gets raped" or "if you have a gun you won't get shot". Here we are both completely 100% agreeing that crazy people shouldn't have guns how they're the real problem and you claim to support gun control laws, but then you let slip out an "as can be expected"...like you already know it's a fruitless endeavor.

This is exactly why I called you crazy months ago and why I'll call you crazy every time you post this insane shit. You are a paranoid crazy person. Full stop.

Don't forget to hide your money.

I don't think I've ever seen you tell people who are bashing xer0s or Kracus to give it a rest. And since this thread was created to make fun of crazy gun nuts and the American phenomenon of rampant mass shootings, I think you're sorta missing the point.

I mean it really is a sort of sweet pleasure to watch Americans get all pissy when "outsiders" give their opinion on their fucked up country, all while they've been telling the whole world how to run their lives...sometimes under the barrel of a gun. You can't make this shit up.

Yeah, don't come over here; it's not worth the trip. England has nothing to offer the average American, and you'll likely hate every minute of it. And you'd be right to, because it's a rainy overpriced shit hole full of ugly, miserable arseholes.

I didn't learn that until I went to America.

I was staying in Pasadena, but drove down into East LA and parked up for a few hours to walk around Compton and Watts, then up to Inglewood, and came back through South Central. About 5 hours walking in total, and even there, in what you'd think was the worst place in the world, I met cool people who just wanted to talk. Yeah it was awesome; just a continual reeducation in what it means to have real manners. You don't get that over here.

I don't deny I wouldn't become familiar, or whatever, but that's really my main issue. The fact that you, or any other American is so cool with owning such a destructive force just boggles my mind. There's literally no difference between owning that and a cache of rocket launchers and mortar bombs. You may not live in a civilised society, but you're a civilised person, and to me, that means you should find the concept of owning a gun quite abhorrent.

The way it is over here is that anyone who has a gun is a policeman or a gangster. If you stay out of the way of both, the chances of you encountering one are infinitely small. That's not the case where you are. In America, there are hundreds of stories yearly of otherwise law-abiding people getting their Dirty Harry on over a stupid argument or crossed word. It seems that a gun, much like religion, can make otherwise completely decent people do terrible, terrible things.

And where you say about "until we fix all the underlying issues etc..", I'd say it was better to end that with "we should ban all guns, because we haven't shown that we're collectively responsible enough to own them, yet."

lol that wasn't directed at sys0p, it was directed at you and NS. Loads of people on this forum have said many nice things about America...even me. If you read that thread I linked to wherein you were a blubbering vagina worried about cred, you'll see exactly how I feel about the US because SURPISE...there was a gun discussion in that thread, too.

Disappoinment isn't hate. I have a crazy uncle who talks crazy shit about global warming and black holes and I'm disappointed he's such a moron for an otherwise intelligent person. I don't hate him either.

Whatever you dumb yank redneck. You're gonna take away from my statement what you want anyways and ignore anything that makes that cabbage-head of yours hurt.

Well, given the perspective that most people come from around here. I'm not sure how to take your comment. But I'll respect the civility of our current conversation and politely disagree with your interpretation of my fist visit to Europe. I think many of the counties have lots of redeeming qualities. Maybe the people or the weather wouldn't be nice. However, that wouldn't matter so much to me as being able to experience the history and beauty first hand.

LOL, you're sick... What's worse? You don't even know you're sick. You stand on a misconceived moral high ground a shout down anti-American rhetoric like you're some kind of authority. You also seem to go out of your way to participate and perpetuate anti-American sentiments. Why you'd even expect to have a civil conversation with an American is beyond me. Though I do think your hatred runs so deep that the simple mention of anything American would send you into a hysterical rage. You're an anti-American. Embrace it. Then try not to let your hate for something you know little about and can not change eat you up inside. And while you're at it, fuck off. :olo:

You say give it a rest? Exactly. To all those people who bring the same tired excuses to the same paranoid outlook and behaviour, I say give it a rest.
Thus the utter contempt and disrespect I've dolled out since.

I read this place from time to time. Nostalgia for lack of a better excuse. When I see something that motivates me to post, I will. Since I do have first hand knowledge of firearms and a logistical standpoint that supports ownership I thought I might oblige. So to say "you" brought on my participation would be incorrect. However, your ignorance has compelled me to post more frequently. Congrats!
