A cover of Led Zeppelin's Immigrant Song by Karen O (Yeah Yeah Yeahs) scored by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross (Nine Inch Nails) for The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo soundtrack.

The rest of the soundtrack is pretty good too. Takes some cues from Ghosts. Pure instrumentals except for the first track (Karen O) and the last one (How to Destroy Angels).

it's inevitable. After centuries going at it, humans have been desensitized to what one might identify as pleasing sound to the ear. So in an attempt to appease the public's sense of music hipsterness and snobbery, you end up with all these cacophonies that sadly describe the state of "first world problems" kind of societies.

It's kinda like when someone married to a supermodel, might yet get caught cheating with some random bird from the local pub.

He's awesome.
His work on "The Fountain" score was Oscar worthy. Whiny movie demands a whiney score, and he delivered in a fantastic way.
If I had to hire a composer for a sci-fi/mystery/drama movie, I'd look no further.

edit: If it fits the budget;)
