I'm not going to continue a literal discussion about minor observations of strangers on the internet. Especially with someone called Chunk.

If it's anything like that though, the noise would be coming from the engine and not the exhaust. I doubt it'd make it louder either, just different, like 'tappy' or 'clunky'.

On the flipside, if the noise is coming from the engine bay (or close to the font) and you can hear yourself talk, it's probably not the exhaust.
it's nowhere that loud, but it went from a civilized , run of the mill noise to something with a little bass to it. and that's only during a specific band of rpm's (1500 -2500) under a slightly above normal acceleration rate.

As I used nothing but Gwamps logic, then by default that question (if refering to nothing more than my first post within this thread) gets an answer of "yes".

What I will now do is read the issue and offer an opinion, if I deem my opinion worth while and informative, otherwise I will just shut the fuck up. Perhaps something you should learn to do.

Just a thought, princess.

But not through the entire rev range ?, you sure it's exhaust blow ?, only thing I can say mang is get your head under and follow the noise whilst someone else revs it for you, it there's a problem it should show itself

Tsakali wrote:I also got the two front tires balanced... so he was checking out his work.... which actually turned out to be shit also... car still vibrates at 60mph.

So is this guy a geniuine fuckhead that i was dealing with? also last time I went to another place for a tire change, they bent my rim... wtf, I think I'm gonna go get me a fucking bicycle ... I'm sick and tired of dealing with shitty mechanics and the auto industry all together.
Firstly, have you checked he actually changed the oil? Do a dip, see how clean the oil is. Also check the filter to make sure it is new (signs of dirt etc)
Secondly, nobody needs to take a car for a test drive to make sure the wheels are balanced. If you have the correct tools available (all half tidy garages will have) then the wheels are spun up to a reasonable speed anyway, so the "test drive" is totally not needed.
Thirdly, get on a website that rates your local garages and find one who is not gonna rape you for everything you are worth. Spend some time getting to know the guys while you wait and, even if you need to pretend, show them you have a certain degree of mechanical knowledge or you will get fucked over often.

the sound is deep enough that it shouldn't be from the engine.
maybe something on the muffler but more towards the front. Will check.

Maybe he was checking to see if the wheel balance fixed the vibration problem.

Jus checked the Mitzi forum and they seem to have problems after the air filter had been checked during services *nudge nudge*, apparently a lot have fixed the issue by removing the air filter, apparently there's more clips inside that usually get neglected for re-fastening, hope that helps ?

Looks pretty common also -

so you're not having an exhaust problem, but a reverberation of the engine through the intake... same thing happened with mine when I swapped it for a larger one. tighten that thing up and you should be ok!

Maybe he was checking to see if the wheel balance fixed the vibration problem.
That all depends on if any hard questions were asked about the vibration issues or he was just asked to balance the front 2 wheels.
As the post that Tsakali made just says "I asked him to balance the front two wheels" we have to assume that this was all that was required.
If Tsakali says he spoke to him indepth about the vibration issues and the mechanic in question suggested the aforementioned issues could be caused by poorly balanced wheels and he should get them sorted, then we can assume you are correct and got a lucky guess. But I am going to forge ahead with the theory that you are once again incorrect as the car still vibrates above 60mph, so the issue has not been solved and surely the mechanic would have picked this up during his test drive after giving Tsakali the advice in the first place?

well, i only see 2 clips and they were clipped. the bottom side of the two pieces are fixed so nothing down there to go wrong, but holy shit, the filter housing is designed by morons.

It's not actually housed, it goes between the (in and out) casings, exposed at the sides... and it doesn't fit right into some well defined groove on either side, there's play all around so you're just clamping all this shit together almost at random.

not mine, found a pic...

as for getting my tires balanced, I did it because they were vibrating, what other reason is there? I'm not out looking to spend money on simple shit like that for no reason.

He drove it, told me it's fine , he even went up to 70mph and no vibration. He neglected to tell me (or he was a moron) what later that day, good year told me, about the possibility of vibration due to fucked up tires.
On that note, what kind of fucked up tire acts like a balancing issue and only shows up @ ~60mph? is the tire fucking up the balance ? something the balancing machine doesn't pick up because of it? still he fucking lied.

also for the trolls, yeah I went to another brand new good year , as that chain is the only 'reputable' option around.

You talked in a big circle there. Sounds like you're trying to convince someone of something. Bottom line. There is a reason for a mechanic to test drive a car after a wheel balance. Next.

Sounds like this guy screwed you. Demand your money back. But be prepared to get nothing but further aggravation. Finding a good mechanic is tough. BLNT I suppose.
