There you go thinking again. Some day you'll learn that doesn't work for you.

maybe something on the muffler but more towards the front. Will check.

Tsa said his front end was vibrating. The cheapest fix would be to balance the tires as apposed to doing a front end alignment, replacing CV joints or something else. It is feasible to believe that the mechanic took the car for a test drive to check if the balanced tires fixed the problem. I'm not saying the mechanic knew what he was doing or even told the truth about fixing the problem.

Now admit you're a tool and move on.

I hate to be one of those people, but my car does sound louder now. What could they have possibly fucked up during an oil change? Could overfilling il cause such increase in noise? did the moron who drove it , possibly pushed it too hard and busted something?

Tsakali wrote:I also got the two front tires balanced... so he was checking out his work.... which actually turned out to be shit also... car still vibrates at 60mph.

So is this guy a geniuine fuckhead that i was dealing with? also last time I went to another place for a tire change, they bent my rim... wtf, I think I'm gonna go get me a fucking bicycle ... I'm sick and tired of dealing with shitty mechanics and the auto industry all together.

Tsakali wrote:well, i only see 2 clips and they were clipped. the bottom side of the two pieces are fixed so nothing down there to go wrong, but holy shit, the filter housing is designed by morons.

It's not actually housed, it goes between the (in and out) casings, exposed at the sides... and it doesn't fit right into some well defined groove on either side, there's play all around so you're just clamping all this shit together almost at random.

not mine, found a pic...

go ahead and take a look and put that k&n filter back in there, it definitely isnt your cause for the noise.

Hey just wanted to let you know that was, in fact the problem. The filter seemed to be in fine, but I unclipped and removed it, shook it out and made sure the BOTTOM of the area (the chasm where you place it back in) - made sure those clips were properly below and meshing (they dont seem to clip together).

I don't think it's the type of synthetic oil you use - I have always used standard 5W and it has worked fine.

Thanks for your help, appreciate it.

Yep, tried it this morning, and it worked for me, too. It was the bottom of the chamber that didn't seem to be fitting together right with the filter. Immediately took it on the highway for a little action, and it works great again. Such a relief for me - I'm sure for you, too.

Take care.
Nancy
The last 2 are for 08/09 models mind, could be bollox, think it's still worth looking into though or mentioning it to the garage who done the work ?. Looking at the pic you've shown, I would guess they were referring to another 2 clips on the bottom like I can see on the top.... and next time, do it yourself !

I didn't ask them to replace the air filter, it was just part offo their oil change routine , checking other fluids etc.

Thanx for the tips, will give it another look tom.

That wouldn't stop them from taking a look at it and not putting it back together correctly...
