Also, I'd recommend you care a lot, lot less. You seem obsessed with "getting" me in some way or other, and I, for one, am confused by such an obsession.

I mean not particularly confused, you appear to have very little of importance in your life, but there's got to be more to your quake3world experience than trying to prove how much I secretly care.
You're confused and obsessed. We get it.

wow

it's like the pot convention and the kettle AGM somehow double-booked the same conference facilities, and are now arguing in the lobby about who gets to have their 'identifying blackness' seminar first

What's everyone's problem with Android's brightness settings? It's just a slider and you can even configure it to adjust automatically depending on environment light. Or you could do like me and install a brightness widget. It's basically one button that either brings up a slider or alternates between 3 brightness levels. My Samsung Note 10.1 even has a brightness slider in the quicksettings menu thats always available

I'm guessing that's a Samsung specific thing. It's not there on my HTC phone running ICS.

It's not about constantly fiddling. It's just that the lowest brightness setting is bright enough for indoors but not for outdoors, certainly not on a sunny day. I have it on a lower brightness indoors because it saves the battery a lot. Display is usually the number 1 source of power consumption.
