Audiophiles - earphone advice
OK so I am going to get some new ear phones and will be used in work and while I pound the streets of Newport getting my run on.
I am after some quality earphones at a reasonable price. I don't really want to spend more than £40
I have previously owned:
Skullcandy 2010's
Sennheiser CX-300s
Beats Audio things which I have now and are not great
I have been considering:
Sennheiser CX 300 Mark II Precision
Skullcandy TITAN
But I am open to other examples of good earphones that will sound grea and have good sound drowning capabilities

for £40, why not stick with the CX300s? or any of them in fact... did you break them?

Not sure how much they go for in the UK, but I always recommend Audio-Technica ATH-M50. I use them at work, and they are awesome all around great headphones. If you want to eek out every bit of awesome from the headphones, you'll want a USB DAC/AMP combo. I recommend this: http://www.headfonia.com/topping-d1-mark-ii/
Good luck.
Good luck.
Re: Audiophiles - earphone advice
Beats and Skullcandy are both shit. Sennheisers sometimes carry decent models (they typically have nice headphones) but I haven't tried the CX300.
I'm using a pair of Shure SE310's (current model SE315) and love them though they are about $300. Maybe you can find the SE215 for just a bit over your kind of price range (~$100 Canadian). Even the cheaper SE215's are fully recommended, you'll love them. I was using the same tiered but much older Shure E2C's before I replaced them with the SE310.
If that's still too much, try the Ultimate Ears UE350 ($50), decent sound for cheap. Very well reviewed - good sound, nice fit.
If you're really really broke, Monoprice 8320 are $10 and still probably better than Beats/Skullcandy.

Re: Audiophiles - earphone advice
Yeah I broken them sadly...I broke the Skullcandy ones too and I am using the Beats at the moment which are not great phones at all. Luckily i Didnt pay for them so I am not too pissed but they are enough of an issue for me to want to replace them. I was checking the CX 550 II's out, but they are too expensive given how I use them and how long I expect them to last.phantasmagoria wrote:for £40, why not stick with the CX300s? or any of them in fact... did you break them?

Re: Audiophiles - earphone advice
Since yours broke you should be looking for something more durable. DJ headphones, they sound good and many pairs are made for durability. Get a pair of Sony's with neodynium magnets
Re: Audiophiles - earphone advice
While that's true, and I love my 15 year old Sony headphones, why are so many people suggesting headphones instead of earphones which is what he asked about?
Re: Audiophiles - earphone advice
Most people call them both the same thing. The ones that go in your ear are sometimes called "in-ear headphones".
Re: Audiophiles - earphone advice
You only call them the same thing if you are a moron and have absolutely no fucking clue what you are talking about.
"In-ear" earphones are only those that are designed to fit directly into the ear canal.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HeadphonesHeadphones are a pair of small loudspeakers that are designed to be held in place close to a user's ears.... The in-ear versions are also known as earphones or earbuds.

Only a moron quotes something saying "versions" and "also known as" without knowing what either of those things means. ...
