Grid 2 limited edition

Post by MKJ »

Collector's and limited editions are becoming more and more on the decadent side.
Codemasters decided to go all the way...

$190000 edition of Grid 2, comes with a car.
Lol?

It's not a question of selling well or not, considering there's only one of those packages on offer. So either it sells or it doesn't. This isn't a real consumer offer, it's pure marketing.

... If that's all you can afford. I'd rather have the V8 Ariel Atom, though.

I'd rather get the car with a custom paintjob of my own choosing.

The major complaints appear to be no cockpit view and a shoddy single player experience. I don't ever use cockpit so it doesnt worry me and the SP experience.... seriously, there really wasn't any in Grid 1. It was just a listing of race events that you could do. I don't feel there was a lot to lose there.

Don't know where you got that. Metacritic hovers around an 8 out of 10?
For example, Gamespot rates it 8.5, and IGN rates it 8.

I've not been playing it long enough to give it a definitive assessment, but so far it has been everything I wanted from a Grid follow up.
It has the same, almost tactile, feel of how the rubber meets the road I liked in the first Grid. The handling is superb, and I don't get that in a lot of other racers.

Also, Grid 2 at max settings runs supersmooth on my now sort of outdated system, just like Grid did on my then sort of outdated system.
Codemasters know how to optimize.

Oh yeah, lots of crying about lack of cockpit view.
I want to see the orientation of the car when rounding curves in racers, I´m arcady like that.

The complainers probably got confused, thinking Grid is a sim racer?
Thankfully, it is not.

Well...since there's no cockpit view I won't be buying this game for my driving sim. Honestly, I was planning on buying it and playing it this weekend.

No cockpit view - for me - is a deal breaker. Oh well. I'll play Project CARS instead.

I'm with Plan B on this. Grid and Grid 2 ride the line between sim and arcade racer better than any racing game I've played. I never used cockpit view either, so I don't really care about that. And who really cares about the story in racing games? The liveroute feature is what makes single player fun.

I think Grid 2 uses Steam account names for leaderboard stats. I'm had_matter if anyone wants to add me.

Haha, ride the line. Get it? Because it's a racing game.

Sweet setup you've got there, ToxicBug. Must be pretty expensive. How much did that all set you back? Is it just for games or you do some power intesnive work on that, too? :)

(The Titan's the most expensive graphics card, isn't it? I think that's why Memphis was surprised and laughed.)

Have you driven the BAC Mono in Grid 2? How is it?
