Iron Man 3.

Pretty shit to be honest. Not actually that much Iron Man in it, just lots of Iron Men flying about all over the place. Felt a bit like a Transformers movie at times.

Yes but in this instance, he's correct in that the Iron Man movies suck.

I'm so glad I'll never see Iron Man 3.

Air Force One: 5/10 - hilarious 90s nonsense, notable for its blatant ideological content, shitty cod-patriotic one-liners and Gary Oldman's hilarious "Mahthah Raaasha" accent

So it was a two-hour Snickers and US Army commercial?

Iron Man 3 - 6/10 - wittier than the previous, but not as grand as I'd hoped. Previews for Thor 2 (ghey) and Wolverine 2 (actually looks promising, and I HATED the first).

Iron Man 3 - 8/10

Much better than the second and I'd watch it again quite easily. I still think the 1st is a triumph but this is very very good indeed

Oblivion was ok, it took some of the better stories and ideas from sci fi and mangled them together for a brainless flick. It kinda reminded me of the Outer Limits.

Been catching up with some other oldies I missed n all. Watched Life of David Gale and A Beautiful Mind the other day, both top films

Iron Man 3 was more amazing than an amazing maze.

Away We Go 7/10

Burt and Verona are expecting their first baby but they've come to the realization that their house and life in the middle of nowhere is pretty shit. So they travel throughout North America visiting friends and family in their respective cities, trying to find the perfect place to raise their child. There's some wonderful chemistry between the couple as they come to the resulting epiphany (and hilarity) that their friends and family are jerks or people with bigger problems and finding a real home is a bigger problem than they thought.

Wreck it Ralph 5/10

There are some small laughs to be had, but it's probably still not worth your time. Mediocre stuff.

My (ex-)colleague who has no taste whatsoever was saying Wreck it Ralph was fantastic super duper great. I'm glad your and his opinion are basically in-sync with each other.

I could write an essay about what Wreck-it Ralph does wrong, and not only from a gamer point of view.
I won't. I enjoyed the first 10 mins and after that it was indeed quite mediocre, if not bad.

wife loved it tho.

“Star Trek Into Darkness”

Official Site

Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Benedict Cumberbatch
Directed by J.J. Abrams

Now I just googled for further information before posting here and see it is showing from May 15th?
Some of you might have to wait to see it on the big screen. I found it strange because down under we normally get to see these movies weeks after release in the northern hemisphere

another linky
another
and an interesting Japanese trailer

A good movie IMO and top efforts in following on from the first of these next gen depictions, but then I am a Trekkie/Trekker :) I suppose.

9/10

Cloud Atlas 8/10

Absolutely beautifully filmed and certainly one of the more cerebral films I've seen in quite some time. I can see why some people wouldn't like it (and why it had mixed reviews), it very deliberately doesn't dumb anything down to dilute the plot into more digestible bits for those lowest common denominators walking into a theater to watch mindless CGI explosions. The six plots are each individually unique but don't have much to do with one another, other than how each story seems to pass on its message in some way to the next in the timeline. Unlike The Matrix, where you sit rather perplexed for the first 30 minutes until the "big reveal" when Neo wakes up, Cloud Atlas makes no attempt to explain any of the plot lines until each individual conclusion. I suppose Cloud Atlas tells the greater story of how each life had somehow inspired the next to do great things though adversity. I am absolutely going to watch it again to try to pick up some of the missed nuances I probably missed having watched half of the movie at 2AM pausing and resuming the next night.

Oh, and Geriatric Great Escape was ROFL. Not the first time Hugo Weaving appeared in drag, I'm starting to think he is rather into it.

A co-worker of mine got tickets and saw it at an advanced screening (he enjoyed it, though he also said that like the last one it wasn't a strictly "Star Trek" movie in the traditional sense and is more raw action oriented).

I was a big Star Tek NG fan, and I'm ok with the plentiful action for a big budget / big screen adaptation. I think I gave the 1st one an 8.5/10. As long as they don't deliberately mangle any core ideals of that universe, and try to pull from them as much as possible without nerding out the pop crowd it should be good.
