Same, if someone was re-assuring me before the film that everything will be ok and once JJ gets bored we can resume service as normal I probably would have loved it, agree with the characters too they're all very good but Khan was too much of a comic book villain imo. It's just that I can't see why they would want to go back to normal service with the amount of money this shits making, It feels more like a nail in a coffin and a kick in the nuts to their fanbase of 40 years in the hunt for new blood.

The potential for soooo much more was in this film too and suppose that it's lining up with the hunt for the Bottany Bay in the next of the series, all of this could have easily been done in a prequel though :(

Star Trek died when Enterprise got cut short, innit ? :tear:

I blame EA

GFY loves multi coloured text because it reminds him of Skittles.

Star Trek Into Darkness. 10/10.

Going Tuesday.

I'll probably end up seeing the new star trek but i'm betting it's a 2 hour shaky cam CGI fest with very little substance or character development. Kinda like the last one.

So it'll be great, just need to make sure i'm not sober. I'm thinking a few beers should do the trick, or perhaps a tiny dose of MDMA.

Saw it, 8.1/10.
It's a CGI fest, but it's that or stop motion. Didn't think it was as good as the first but it should stand up well to a few re-views on BR.

Thought the plot twist was rubbish, i hope they aren't just going to keep rehashing others. If the next is time travel, it can get fucked because they always end up in the 80s. Also, not impressed with Simon Pegg's Scott in this film.

Edit, changed score so it's not the same as idi0tx

You're killing it, with your mongo friends all like *wank wank wank*. Go watch Iron Man instead, or Herbie.

LEAVE STAR TREK ALONE

Rewatched Barton Fink.

20 years ago I didn't really understand it. Writer checks himself into a strange Hollywood hotel. Some weirdness happens and people die. The End.
But now I understood all the interesting psychological subtext going on, and really appreciate it!

Into Darkness 8/10

nice visuals, but felt empty...any meaningful character interaction felt cheap, even homo on some occasions...maybe they weren't that cheap, but the overdose of action surrounding them had a numbing effect... but still gets an 8 for looking that pretty.

Seriously, haven't seen a movie in a cinema in 10 years.
Granted, the picture and sound quality still is better in a cinema than on the home system I have, but it's just not worth it.
My main gripe is fellow movie goers behaving like assholes, treating it like a hangout with some movie playing in the background as a distraction, talking and laughing and texting.

Star Trek Into Darkness -7/10.

I agree with everything GFY and chunk said. Dumbed down predictable WOK remix. Spock yelling Khan made me cringe.

That being said, the sfx gave me a nerd boner. The Kronos Klingon stuff was sweet. I felt like these new Treks could have been so much better if they weren't preoccupied with recasting TOS crew. The cast is a gimmick. Bones, Scotty and Chekhov suck. Cumberbatch outshined everyone. First movie was better just because it had an original story.

Oh and fuck off with the Star Wars uniforms in my Trek...jesus.

Going through the later seasons of TNG now, the films dogshit in comparison.

Still think season 3 of Enterprise was one of the best series in Star Trek. Sucks dick that it was axed a season later.

Never watched Enterprise. Anything in comparison to the one where Picard gets his gay flute and lives an entire life in a coma? Or he goes back to his relatives on the vineyard?

I'm pretty sure if Picard said to the central computer of the Enterprise, "Computer: tea, Earl Gray, hot - and play Game of Thrones, season one, episode one" to which the computer replied, "The video you have requested is not available in your subspace region", he'd be so pissed he'd set the ship on self-destruct.

Fuck you, Star Trek and your 23rd/24th century planet Earth utopian society which is free of borders and region based copyrights.
