The new x-men movie 8/10

Really, really good. Probably the best xmen movie so far. They did an awesome job of tying in all the other characters from the previous films...

Notting Hill

What can I say? Yes a chick flick for sure but it was the first time I had actually seen it; released in 1999 :smirk:
I enjoyed, and thought Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant played their roles well IMO.

7/10

Looking to see if anyone has seen the new Tom Cruise movie, Edge of Tomorrow yet. I do plan to go mid next week and looking for opinions.

It was this or Malificient.

Even though it has been done a million times before, I must say I like the premise. I'm just a sucker for this time manipulation stuff.
Surprisingly enough, Philip Dick didn't even write it.
I swear, Tom Cruise would happily dig up Dick's corpse to coax another short story out of him to bloat into a movie.

It's getting high ratings. When you've seen it, let us know your thoughts, whiskey.

i heard from a reliable source that Malificent was fucking terrible. Edge of Tomorrow is supposed to be OK... not a classic, but not bad.

Edge of Tomorrow 8.5 really really enjoyed it. they used the reset element well, for humor, for character building and plot progressing. Can't give it more than 8.5 because of one particular aspect of it that ticked me off.

Like Tsakali I really really enjoyed the movie, and yes, they did use that day reset element pretty well. Ground Hog Day revisited :)

Like Plan B, I too am a sucker for the time manipulation stories.
Solid movie and worth watching again, perhaps in 3D this time.

"unsere mütter unsere väter" aka "generation war"

It's a German miniseries (3 episodes of roughly 90 mins each) about 5 German friends in WW2. two of them are brothers who join the Wehrmacht, one of them becomes a nurse, helping wounded soldiers, one of them is a Jew and one of them follows her dreams of becoming a famous singer.

The story starts off real good in ep 1 but goes a bit all over the place in eps 2 and 3. There's some encounters between the friends later on that seem unlikely, but if you can get past that, it's well worth a viewing.

The production value is amazing, there's scenes there that remind of Band of Brothers, with lots of action. The series focuses more on the human side of things though, so the action density is a lot lower than with BoB.

It's also interesting to see the story from the German side as they roll into Russia. You feel sympathy for these people, which is something American television makers shy away from too much.
