Come on Andy, you've given two films in a row 10/10. You're a little haphazard with your tens...

28 Days Later (2002)

Quote:
Four weeks after a mysterious, incurable virus spreads throughout the UK, a handful of survivors try to find sanctuary.

I had to watch as I had heard of it for years.

In a word, OK. Lots of 'infected' zombies and a small number of survivors fight on to a perhaps predictable end. The end was interesting and without a spoiler I can say it had two alternates to my surprise.

Yes one to watch but don't hurry. 7/10

I loved that film yo, with the running zombies and the survival horror, it kicked 7 shades out of any similiar flick imho except maybe when I had 1st seen the original Dawn of the Dead. My only gripe was that I didn't think the bit in the mansion was really necessary nor a good fit.

You seen 28 weeks later ?, it's a bit more Hollywood, where 28 days played on the suspense I think 28 weeks is more about the action. 2 of my fav Zombie flicks I reckon

Inception (yet again) - 9/10 - still awesome after 1/2 dozen views. i love how Nolan builds what could have been a very cold, cerebral story on top of the Cobb/Moll emotional situation, giving it real warmth

this movie is going to be on the same level as 50 shades of gay when it comes out

If you thought Shaun of the Dead was funny (personally i found it rather a bit shit to be honest, but then i can't stand whatshisface who plays the lead role), might i point you in the direction of the largely unknown Cuban gem called Juan de Los Muertos that came out around a year later? It's basically the same thing, only set in Cuba and roughly about ten times better.

Somehow they actually received funding from the Cuban government for making it, which only adds to the hilariousness - the whole thing is highly critical of the political system.

i'm watching Zombieland now and the first 50min into it feels like watching a DayZ video on YT.

i'm at the part with Bill Murray now

finished it, comedic, Woody was good, not enough zombies, DayZ

4/10

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies - pfg/10

Saw it in 48fps IMAX 3D. Was quite an experience. Almost like watching a live action play.

Can't stand that 48fps nonsense, it makes everything look like a cheap TV movie.

Saw Hobbit in Imax 3D just now, 50/10. Interstellar was great too.

Now there's no reason to go the movies until next December.

Just rewatched The Hobbit 2 on my parents 3d screen - 7/10

I really like the first half of the movie. Bear, Spiders, Elves - Great stuff. For the second half: Out of the four times I watched the movie, I fell asleep two times during the fight with the dragon. Such a borefest. The dialogue between Smaug and Bilbo is great, though.

I like the 48fps.

I really hate the frame doubling motion flow bullshit on new tvs..I always turn it off. To me this seemed different. It was like you stopped looking through the cinema lens and were actually there watching it. I wouldn't call it bad..just unique.

Hobbit: 5 Armies HFR imax 3d

8/10

I thought it was really good. The HFR didn't bother me at all and I thought it looked really cool. Awesome visuals.

I was completely shocked when

Thorin and the brothers were killed.

Absolutely didn't see that coming. I guess because the book is totally different.

The film was good, but it felt like one big fight scene...

Yeah I saw the first two with the HFR. Some people are ok with it, but I felt it was a jarring effect.

I then saw the BBC special An Adventure in Space and Time

Shows in some way how the cult of Dr Who was born.
In this, the first Doctor, William Hartnell is played by David Bradley and a great job too

Clicky for BBC America item

David Bradley - IMDB

William Hartnell - Wiki

Edit years later... BBC broken so here it is on YT
