Football can be fun to play, but I don't have the time to waste by investing any part of my life in caring about it. Some guy had a certain number of rushing yards last year? So fucking what?

its a money thing. To me its like this, Ferrari may be one of the beautiful cars out there, it may handle the sweetest, it may be the fastest but at the end of the day I am buying an Aston Martin because its the best regardless of whether it is or isnt. Intergration is an idea thought up by an idealogy similar to Communism with the respect that "every man is equal" - Rubbish. Black is Black, White is White, Yellow is Yellow, Red is Red. Everyperson at conception is equal, from then on in it depends on what life your parents have, what type of insurance they have, where they live, who they know, etc.

I live in Reading, Pennsylvania, in a nice suburb, with nice respectible people around me, Military men, Police Officers, School Teachers, Business people, all white. Reading in the last 40 years has gone from a City thats population once filled the streets and its skyline cast a shadow over the South Mountain. Now its nothing more than a breeding ground for every "ethnic" community going, mexican, Blacks, asians.......

You ask me, well what has this got to do with sports and in particular American Football?


Let me put it this way. The whites moved out of Reading, into the suburbs as soon as the "ethnics" started moving into Reading. People of different races within this country cant even live together let alone form a strong enough bond to praise each others achievements. At the end of the day, How many of you have heard jokes relating to the achievements (soccer, football, basketball, running, athletics etc) of someone thats a different race? (Well if the white quarter back hadnt have called the play and threw the ball the black guy would never had caught it. After all Dont you blacks get a lot of practice from running anyways). Am I supposed to believe that this is some sort of eutopia that I'm living in, where I'll come home to find my Kid with a picture of a Black Quarter back on his wall...... dream on.

Bullshit - The only reason you're seeing a "slight" elevation in the amount of "Racially Challenged" (lets keep it PC here people - wouldnt want to offend anyone) or "African Americans" is because Hip-Hop Culture and in particular Rap music, (thanks to Eminem - who coincidentally just happens to be the biggest/most successful rapper of all time, guess what colour he is), has crossed over into white culture for a period of time, as soon as that goes watch your "statistic" faulter and fall back down to a more "appropriate" level.

lol, the rugby part might be fun to watch, but there is no way in hell they could come close to matching up with an nfl team at football. I doubt they could even hang with a top 25 college team, maybe not even beet a top high school team.

first, there was nothing arrogant about my post, just an opinion based on experience having played both sports in question. I wasn't pounding my chest, screaming soccer sucks or rugby is for pussies was I? Unlike yourself were you spit a half a page of crap about a game you have obviously never played. Since I have reached a level of stupidity that is so high that I can't get my point across the first time, let me try again just for you.

By no means would I slight rugby players of any nation. The fact is though, if you are going to line them up against nfl players, they are going to be giving away close to 100 lbs. at every single position on the line of scrimmage. Well, sorry kids but that means they have no chance. None. You could take the best high school football team in the U.S. (which would be made up of guys about the same size as pro rugby players) who have played the game all their life, line them up against a pro team and they have no chance. None.
Now, you can leave all the fatties at home and still make a rugby team of NFL guys who are used to running a lot that will not give up any size or strength or speed to a rugby team. Are they going to win? hell no. Compete? probably not, but as they are professional athletes it might be somewhat entertaining to watch, for a bit. Like I said might be fun. The football game would just be murder.

Sure. Lets agree on what "play football" means. i.e. I'm not counting peeps who step on a field and goof around at events like picnics, etc.

I was thinking about people who play regularly, say at least once every 2 weeks. In my institute in Amsterdam, there are regular notices for weekend games and only about 9 out of 400 staff show up. We do go around the office and try to drag peeps into the games but they all say they are "too busy" or "don't want to run around"...but they will be happy to meet at a bar and see the "next game" Hell, even my own buddies who get married rarely find the time for games...

You need to do some research. That's 3 quarterbacks. 3 out of what, 32, 33 teams? True equality would be 25% of NFL quarterbacks being black.

ABC Sports was apologizing Tuesday over a filmed bit on Monday Night Football in which Sheridan, as her vampy Desperate Housewives character, removed a towel and showed off her assets to Philadelphia Eagles star Terrell Owens in the locker room.

The segment, aired at the beginning of the broadcast seen at 9 p.m. on the East Coast, and even earlier in other time zones, closed with the ostensibly naked Sheridan leaping into Owens' arms, and the ostensibly distracted Owens vowing to sit out the game. ("Aw, hell, the team's going to have to win without me," said a thespian-challenged Owens.)

Unlike Jackson, whose wardrobe malfunction prompted a Super Bowl-sized controversy, Sheridan didn't flash the camera--only her bare back was shown on screen. But enough flesh was bared to leave ABC red-faced.

"The placement of last night's Monday Night Football opening segment was inappropriate. We apologize," ABC Sports said Tuesday.

Still smarting over Janet Jackson, the National Football League sounded testy about seeing its teams in bed with Desperate Housewives.


"ABC's opening was inappropriate and unsuitable for our Monday Night Football audience," a league spokesman said in a statement. "While ABC may have gained attention for one of its other shows, the NFL and its fans lost."




The Federal Communications Commission (news - web sites), currently sorting through objections over last week's unedited rebroadcast of Saving Private Ryan on ABC, acknowledged Tuesday it had received calls from viewers about the Monday Night Football segment. FCC (news - web sites) spokeswoman Rosemary Kimball said it wasn't known how many calls had been received, or if they were calls of complaint.

The sports pages, at least, weren't filled with words of praise for the Sheridan-Owens sketch.

"I think ABC Sports should be absolutely, positively ashamed of itself," Sports Illustrated writer Peter King wrote on CNNSI.com on Tuesday.

In the Philadelphia Daily News, deputy sports editor Doug Darroch put it succinctly: "Nice job, ABC."


My one question - the one that doesn't seem to have been asked so far: would there be as much an uproar if she was de-toweling in front of a White football player?
