I agree about Haunted and I enjoyed choke by the end. I'd like to see Haunted as a movie, if it was done right.
Is Diary that good? I was hesitant on that one just based on reading the blurb.
What about Survivor and Lullaby?

ugh, I'm *still* reading 'Ancestor's Tale' by Richard Dawkins. I'm getting into the heavy genetic stuff that's somewhat hard to digest.
Also just bought a book on the forests of the Pacific Northwest. Plan on reading a few books like that to get ready for school, maybe pick up Jared Diamond's books as well.
I'm behind on my reading.

Survivor is a must read..its acutally his first book.. lullaby is just okay..on the scale of choke.
I'd recommend Invisible monsters before lull and choke. Infact, Invisable monsters is a MUST read/.
I love Diary for the art school ref's...it hits home large for me....and has some quotes in it that rival fight club, ones that I say out loud on a regualr basis.....

I don't enjoy novels any more. I don't have the patience and I keep feeling like I'm wasting my time.
The book I have with me now is Philosophical Concepts in Physics by James Cushing--yes, I'm still slogging through it. It's not the kind of book you sit down and spend hours reading.
I'll read a portion, take notes, put it down, talk to a few people I know that like discussing philosphy...rinse, repeat. I'm very interested in the different schools of philosophy and how they approach and effect scientific theory. For example, you have realists (like Plato and Aristotle), rationalists (i.e., Descartes), empiricists (Herschel)...and they all have a different approach for determining what is "real" and what is not.
I'm interested in time. Time travel is great science fiction material and many people cannot view it as anything more than fanciful fiction. I believe it's a medium like any other, even though we don't understand it's properties right now.
One way of looking at it: whatever it is we need to travel through time, we already have. All of us are moving through time right now. We just don't know how, why or by what mechanism (if there even is one). It appears to be a passive ability. Much like a fish swimming in water...the fish doesn't need to do anything to be "in" the water...it just is. So we seem to be "in" time.
It's my belief that like any other medium, we will be able to effect time someday. I don't know by what means, or how that will effect us, but it's not a matter of if it will happen, just when.

It's interesting to me to see some of the "roots" of christianity in what is bascially this man's diary. It was not written as a book for the public, but was actually his private thoughts and ponderings. And yes, I've linked this book before in other book threads on this board.
The last book I've been reading is Sun Tzu, On the Art of War. I must admit, I do not understand all the principles and even after re-reading parts of it, I don't understand how to apply it to life events. The one amazing (to me) concept I've come away with is that a man's strengths and beliefs can be used effectively against him if you know what they are....his "good" qualities can be used to bring him down, because they make him predictable. I had never before considered that a positive or "good" quality could be a downfall.
