I've seen people driving around in custom made cars (not the typical F! style car) There a way to make them or is that some kind of option in the paid for version?

You can use custom cars also in the free version of the game. Im just not quite sure, if others can see your car in online games. In the tmn free version from 2 years ago own cars were for others only sporadically visile. In the paid version eveyone can see the custom cars of each other.

I've got the model from http://www.trackmania-carpark.com, skin self made by using some H.R.Giger-graphics. I just couldn't get the tires matte yet.
There are lots of custom cars on that page as well as tutorials which are however partiallly only in french...

I've got SmartJoy Plus adapters and they work natively in Vista with no drama at all.
