well it is the group of 'undecided' that really matter here....the 5-10% of folks who keep the polls tacking this way and that. A gentle yet firm slap upside Palin's milftastic booty DOES matter in finalizing her unfavorability among those 5-10%. Biden can let her do all the work...and, ala A Few Good Men, lead her right where she is dying to go. He doesn't have to be a dick about it at all. Now, can he do this? We'll know tonight.

intrade has Obama's stock going up after tonight's debate:
http://www.intrade.com/jsp/intrade/comm ... 2970132801
Obama's stock is double the value of McCain's.
http://www.intrade.com/jsp/intrade/comm ... 2970196759
Good signs.
Electoral vote estimate is @ 310 to 228 for Obama.

Cafferty again spits in Palin's face on CNN for the Couric interviews:

I won't be watching the debate. I'm too fearful that she is going to smile and nod and not answer and actually score points for doing it with people on the fence.
God I hope I am wrong.

I don't get how people can be attracted to her because she is 'like them' - fuck, if you are going in for brain surgery do you want the doc who is 'like you' or the one who is extremely educated and knows what the hell is going? Why is it people wouldn't trust their surgery to someone just because they remind them of themselves, but think the country can be run by someone who carries this as their primary qualification?

Faithful See Virgin Mary's Image in Toilet Bowl
Cincinnati,OH—Hundreds of people are being drawn to the Creation Museum by what they say looks like an image of the Virgin Mary in a toilet bowl.

As many as 300 people, some weeping, gathered outside the third stall of the Museum's men's room. They prayed, they took photographs, and they said the rosary.

The museum curator said the cause of the image was not immediately clear, but he plans on talking to the head of the janitorial staff, Benedict.

Sarah Palin, in the Museum preparing for this evening's debate, said it was comforting to know that God's spirit was there in this time of turmoil for the nation.

yea, but I'm not sure about the truthiness of that report. Wouldn't surprise me, don't get me wrong, looks like an onion article though (unless that site is like the onion and I just don't know)

The site is a regular left-wing political/religion blog but the article is a parody of another article.

She didn't do as bad as I thought she would, but I still liked Biden better. She was just a bit too folksy for my liking, especially considering she has such a good chance of becoming president.

That debate was terrible. Biden was good but you can't believe anything he says. Palin was a trainwreck, I could never remember what the question was as soon as she started talking because she tried to talk about being from a small town or energy instead.

If she wins, it would be a good idea to move to Israel- they both love it so much!

doncha know.
having seen that i'm pretty sure she's exactly as stupid as she's seemed so far. as i predicted though, she managed to stumble through it hitting the standard talking points (and it was polite of her to say at the beginning that she wasn't even going to bother answering the moderator's questions) and no major fuck ups. neither will get a bump from this.

For all her "folksyness," it seemed like a forced act, and Biden actually came across more like an everyday person than she did. I'm not saying that's what I look for in a candidate, but that's what she's being sold as.

She also just outright refused to answer questions that were asked of her, said she agrees with Dick Cheney that the office of VP can't be constrained to a single branch, and wasn't ever able to say how McCain is different from Bush.

For Biden's part, aside from being dry, I think he did everything he was supposed to. In fact, dry is probably an improvement for him. He was smart in not attacking Palin directly, and not getting too riled up by her direct attacks.

Neither of them really exceeded or underperformed my expectations, but I'm sure there are a lot of people who are pleasantly surprised that Palin managed to look like she belonged in the debate.

Expectations aside, I lean toward Biden as coming out on top of this - mostly for actually answering the questions, and making a connection with the audience.

PFFFFF.....I AM A FOLKSY ROBOT WHO WILL ANSWER MY OWN KESTIONS KTHNXBYE.

She is as dumb as a sack of hammers, but her protective Rovian battlesuit is now complete.

It will all rise and fall on Obama-McCain anyway.

If you listen to the actual language she uses it's exactly what that article on the previous page mentioned, she has a knack of speaking in the context of 'common people' - in a deliberate "does it really matter" way - answering questions with "Ya know, I was talking to parents...", or "our local businesses...", is small town politics which is what people latch on to as it implies that she mixes with commoners on a day-to-day basis. That's what will win them the election (voter fraud aside).

Pundits will go Biden, "we the people" will go Palin

They hammer biden for citing off memorized 'facts and figures' but forget to mention that Palin is spouting just as much memorized shit, its just that her memorized shit is folksy, joe six pack shit.
She didn't answer a question almost all fucking night with any level of detail - just kept saying maverick and change is coming, but they haven't defined much in the way of change the entire campaign...

and FFS putting a US embassy in Jerusalem...yea, that's going to fucking calm things down and bring change to the middle east.

Doesn't matter though, many in this fucking country will say she won because the expectations were so low that the fact she spoke confidently and in complete sentences will be enough - nobody paid attention to the lack of substance. maybe they were having her look stupid on purpose with couric because they knew it was the only way she'd stand a real chance in the debate as they don't have an ounce of policy that would appeal to the middle class of this country...

They will win in november - its just my gut feeling and i can't escape it...

ON the positive side...poll shows 470,000 people of which 52% think Biden won...38% palin..

Nope, talking to the people, about the people, regardless as to her politics (or how well she read her talking points), will make her a popular vote with the people themselves. Easy to spot unless that low blood pressure of your's is making you unduly 'fuzzy'.

Depends who you ask.. the picture isn't as clear cut as you might think when you read a broader spectrum of commentary on it.
