TnF: My original posts were intentionally made to evoke the elicit comments that were made. I no more need or have guns for home defense than anyone here. I also have my guns locked up at all times, so getting to them in the time of need would be quite difficult. However, I do have a concealed weapons permit and carry a Glock 27 in my work vehicle. But I don’t carry it out of fear or paranoia in regards to my every day safety. I carry because I have the right as a citizen of the United States to do so.

Aside from the rare collector's ones that have some sort of uniqueness to them, how many guns would one have to buy for the investment to reap worthwhile financial benefits down the road? I'd be curious to see some figures about what type of appreciation in value you are talking about for some standard guns (nice shotty, rifle, pistol, etc.). Have you seen any or do you have any?

The truth is I don’t need a shotgun for any reason. I don't live in an area where I seriously anticipate using it. In a sense, it’s a complete waste of money. But I have the money and like guns, so I buy them. That’s all… I feel that as long as I keep them in a safe place and use them responsibly, I got no problems.

I wasn't drug into anything because my argument was never against owning a gun. People who go on about how safe one makes their home intrigue me, so I figured I'd ask someone who claimed to believe that and maybe even have an intelligent conversation wherein we discuss our points of view in the absence of the debate on gun ownership in the first place.
