Also, some of you may not know this, but guns do nothing but go up in value as they age. And they do it considerably. They're great investments.

I love it too when people go back and retroactively classify all their comments as troll attempts. Evoke and elicit mean the same thing in this context though, so the gem needs polish.Whiskey 7 wrote: I do like this gem of yours.... evoke the elicit comments that were made ...
Err, that's the same argument that Timothy McVeigh and his gang subscribed to... And you saw how well that turned out.YourGrandpa wrote:TnF: My original posts were intentionally made to evoke the elicit comments that were made. I no more need or have guns for home defense than anyone here. I also have my guns locked up at all times, so getting to them in the time of need would be quite difficult. However, I do have a concealed weapons permit and carry a Glock 27 in my work vehicle. But I don’t carry it out of fear or paranoia in regards to my every day safety. I carry because I have the right as a citizen of the United States to do so.
GKY: What you seem to forget is that a gun can’t accidentally kill a “swath” of people unless you put it in the hands of a raving psychotic killer, hell bent on ending lives. In which the psycho could kill as many or more people with a car, home made pipe bomb, etc…
Aside from the rare collector's ones that have some sort of uniqueness to them, how many guns would one have to buy for the investment to reap worthwhile financial benefits down the road? I'd be curious to see some figures about what type of appreciation in value you are talking about for some standard guns (nice shotty, rifle, pistol, etc.). Have you seen any or do you have any?xer0s wrote:Also, some of you may not know this, but guns do nothing but go up in value as they age. And they do it considerably. They're great investments.
Gramps prefers a shotgun to a camera, lmao says it all right there.YourGrandpa wrote:It kind of was. I just happened to have actually bought the shotgun. The troll part was knowing the reaction that I'd get from the majority of the posters on this board. I know how and what these people think about me and guns. But I don’t really care. Why should I?
The truth is I don’t need a shotgun for any reason. I don't live in an area where I seriously anticipate using it. In a sense, it’s a complete waste of money. But I have the money and like guns, so I buy them. That’s all… I feel that as long as I keep them in a safe place and use them responsibly, I got no problems.
Some of you are camera nuts. I wouldn’t give a single shit for anything more than a regular 8mp digital camera. But you camera buffs damn near cum on yourself over a lens and that’s just as wasteful/stupid as me buying a tactical shotgun.
Oh well, to each their own. This board has always been a source of entertainment for me and I’m sure that’s never going to change.
END OF TEST.YourGrandpa wrote:TnF: My original posts were intentionally made to evoke the elicit comments that were made.
Yes. I used the wrong word. It happens to everyone around here. I was at work, in a hurry, it sounded right at the time and I hit reply. Good job, genius. I guess now we're all suppose to belive that you're above such a thing?HM-PuFFNSTuFF wrote:gwamps you do realize that evoke and elicit mean the same thing right?
I wasn't drug into anything because my argument was never against owning a gun. People who go on about how safe one makes their home intrigue me, so I figured I'd ask someone who claimed to believe that and maybe even have an intelligent conversation wherein we discuss our points of view in the absence of the debate on gun ownership in the first place. If that's the sort of stuff you troll with, good on you.YourGrandpa wrote:I love how you guys think that you're above being drug into a conversation that isn't completely genuine.![]()
After all of the years here, you actually think that I don't know this board's general opinion on guns?![]()
Notice TnF's 1st post in this thread (third post in) and my response. But everyone still wanted to jump on the band wagon, so I played along. It's not my fault everyone loves to bash. However, it is fun to see people get all worked up over the internet.
.
So you waste time at work posting on quake3world? Some of us have a work ethic and actually take pride in what we do for a living. I hope you feel good about screwing your boss and associates over but of course I expect nothing less from you. Oh and stop trying to use words you think will make you seem smart. Chances are you don't even know what they mean.YourGrandpa wrote:Yes. I used the wrong word. It happens to everyone around here. It's funny how people with no real opinion focus on everything else about a conversation and not the actual conversation.
I didn't say YOU were drug into the conversation, based on a troll. I was specifically talking about my response to your question.tnf wrote:I wasn't drug into anything because my argument was never against owning a gun. Was xer0s drug in since he agreed with your initial 'troll'?
It was at the end of my lunch hour and thought I might take the time to reply. If it hasn't become quite apparent that I'm not affected by your opinions, then you're the retard.
On a side note. America is obviously different than many parts of the world. It's also a general consensus of our people and govenerment that guns aren't such a bad thing. Of course, anyone who doesn't agree could play the objective role and disparage the ownership of guns. But following the same line of reasoning, the same points could be made about other things that kill many people. Though discussing those things here would be pointless, I felt inclined to mention it.
It's mostly a hobby. Although I do go target shooting once in awhile, I don't hunt and couldn't imagine killing something without good reason.tnf wrote:We all make errors such as mistakes now and then.
Seriously, though, gramps, my initial statement stands. It is a nice looking gun, and I did wonder what you were going to use it for (hunting, trap shooting, hobbyist, etc.) Then the whole thing spun out of control.
I'm kind of glad that you don't own a gun. You'd most likely end up hurting many people, including yourself.LawL wrote:Durr..
