The freedom you have to deal with some of the stories is great - the designers did a great job with that. Take the whole mission inside the white-glove society's hotel. Without spoiling what you do in there, the number of different ways you can go about finding the mystery, investigating the mystery, and resolving the problem is pretty impressive. That was one small part of the game and it kept me occupied for a few hours overall. This game makes it hard for me to keep my schedule of not gaming for more than an hour at a time though.
Yeah I always have a plan of doing something until I find something else on the way. I think I messed up Crazy crazy crazy though, I never ran into the big guy again and killed tabitha by accident. Also, I went from having 2 followers to just 1, couldn't pick up Raul, the fuck?
{spoiler}

Right now I'm in Ceasar's camp deciding what to do with the platinum chip - don't know if I should trash the equipment in the bunker or do what Mr.House wants me to do. Still need to figure out how to reprogram the security bots for myself.

I loaded my character's gun skill up right away so that by level 15 it was at 100. That has made combat really easy. In fallout 3 I tried to be a generalist, always distributing a few skill points to everything and always got my ass handed to me. Mostly guns, lockpick, science, and speech - speech skill opens a lot of stuff for you.

Heh, I activated the robot army, went back to tell Caesar, blew him and his entourage up with C4 (dumbassed AI doesn't react to you dropping C4 at their feet), then stealth-boyed out of camp.
You can get Yes Man to imprint himself onto Lucky 38's systems thereby allowing you control of the army. That's what I did :)
Mind you, by level 30, I had 100 guns, 100 speech, 100 barter, 100 science, 100 sneak and 100 lockpicking.
Intensive Training is the best perk in the game ;)

I lost some early power armor by giving it to a companion ;(

Also, the storage units next to the workbenches in the presidential suite lose all the gear I store in them.

Power armor is shitty because it counts as a disguise and Crimson Caravan and the NCR will try and light you up = you murdering hundreds.

edit: lol I'm retarded, that's what you get for using "brotherhood T-51b power armor" instead of "T-51b power armor"

I'm still just using light leather armor. I haven't ever worn NCR armor or a gang armor cause I don't want to be mistaken for them and get blasted. What is a solution for this?

NCR armor is fine unless you want to do work for the gays like the legion, great khans, or power gangers.

lol@ the framerates. Why does this game look 10 years outdated and runs like my rig is even older than that?

honestly, I don't know how they got this piece of shit to run on a xbox360.

They did react when I tried the C4 - I only had one C4 with me, didn't work well as it didn't kill them. I am not sure how I am going to play this particular mission storyline - I've accepted Mr.House's deal to upload the data with the intention of controlling the army later. Went back to Caesar and he thinks I did what he wanted and I told him I'd kill House. I'd like to kill off the entire Legion with Boone if possible.

Took me about 20 times leaving and re-entering the tent before I managed to take them all out with a super-sledge. It's irritating that you can't always open the pipboy mid-combat before you die.

If I part ways with a companion, can I join back up with him later on? And what happens to all my stuff that I keep in his inventory? Will he hang on to it for me or should I get it from him before I part ways?

why even let that be the situation? is it that hard to fast travel to your hoarding spot and just unload all your stuff?

Well if he'll keep my stuff for me, why not let him? If I ever want to group back up with him, I won't have to transfer it all back...

Meh I played it... the story kept me interested but man... the graphics look so dated, the characters are so bland and lifeless. The movement is so jerky (xbox 360) Why did this game get so many good reviews?

because lots of people play it on PC rather than on an obsolete piece of crap?

Just assuming, i've not got it as it looked like a rehash of Fallout 3 which i found a tad underwhelming overall.

I don't know how much better they could have made the textures, etc., considering how huge the world is and still had it fit on a single DVD. I agree it looks dated, but the game itself has been great IMHO. So many ways to do things - kind of enjoyable considering how on-rails many of the games I've played lately have been.

Yeah I kinda like that actualy... I did a quest for the sniper in the dinosaur, wound up taking forever to do the damn thing cause everyone wanted me to do something else and something else before I ever got what I wanted. I could have just killed the first ghouls mind you and be done with it but it was fun to watch them launch the rockets.

I agree the "questing" and story is very open ended which is nice I just wish it wasn't at the cost of the gameplay mechanics. It's not super ugly but it looks like Oblivion which looked awsome in 2005. I still find the movement annoying however.

I guess graphics never really mattered to me. I thought the game looks great anyways. 50+ hours in and I'm addicted.

Now more than ever I can't wait for Rage. Bethesda and id together...

Graphics are plenty good enough, though I don't like the art style. On my 2nd playthrough now in hardcore, using a girl and plan to do guns + explosives.

Next time I'll do unarmed + sneak on HC + hard as a challenge, like I used to do Deus Ex on realistic without killing anybody. Really great game though, fallout NV is.

On the flip side is Mass Effect 2, beautiful game but it's so absolutely dumbed down I just have no urge to play it, even though I've got the new mission pack with liara I haven't even opened it since I've still got Fallout NV.

You're on your second playthrough? How many hours did you put in on the first?

about 60 hours on the first play-through, I also reloaded an earlier save and beat it a second time with the same character so it might be more than that. I had about 2/3rds of the locations visited. I wanted to start a new character and get all of the side-kick side quests done in one game, since raul was bugged in the other, plus I didn't want to replace the BoS head since if you do, you'll have to blow up the bunker.

Yeah, I think I want to go ahead and finish up the main story so I can leave some quests for my second playthrough...
