Lol I just read about suddenlink. SL has a bandwidth cap that takes about 1 hour to pass at 1 gig speeds...

They upped the cap when they upgraded to 100 Mb. They will up the cap again. Come on now, you can't be that stupid can you? Nevermind, forgot who I was talking to.

Last I checked for my 80 Mb service, it's 350 gigs. And don't 'careful' me. I could be at your doorstep in 3 hours.

Even with my current speed I could max that out in a matter of hours. I don't plan on downloading half a TB. I think I'll be fine. I'll just be happy in the satisfaction that it's faster than yours.

That's quite a difference. If that speed drop happens regularly it sounds like your ISP has contention issues and doesn't have enough bandwidth to share around all customers, are you able to switch to a different provider?

I have never heard the term "contention issues". Perhaps I know it by a different term.
I am able to change ISP but silly me, I changed my email address when I retired (and changed ISP/address) so it is a pain to change but I am considering and only because of their Customer Service failures every time I deal with them
I discovered recently my old employer, the large Australian telecom/ISP gives a discount to (ex) staff

so I will be going back. I just have to plan my exit.
For interest, another test early AM here.

Assuming your infrastructure is like here this explains it -

Protip: never use your ISP's email address, always use Gmail or hotmail or something so you can switch to a new ISP without the hassle of moving all your accounts over.

Yes, a lesson I learned too late for sure...
Early AM test again.

I think Net-Speed isnt that big thing, its more about:
-Servers / Hosts Limiting you DLs
-Shitty Cabels
-Ad spamming
-Wlan is a nogo
