The point I think he's trying to get at is that TG undoes the work of people that campaign to drive less by cycling more / using public transport or whatever.

It doesn't, though. It features genuine races where any of the modes of transport you could come up with could win; not just the car. How about you watch Top Gear some time, instead of reading some BS hate messages about it.

I was a massive fan of the show dipshit.

I made a similiar point n all, in that it CAN be a good platform for alternatives but which ever way you cut it - it's a car show that glorifies driving, exactly as Semen said, and no, it's not just supercars. How many challenges have they done with cheap supercars or whatever, they went across America in V8s for less than a grand whilst praising them all the way.

I'm of the belief that the damage done by TG and hobbyist motorists is minimal and don't see it as a problem when compared to 'whatever other shit', but I can understand Semens stance as I assume 'whatever other shit' also produces emissions and should also come under the same scrutiny.

Look, the thing is that I think Top Gear's antics have near zero impact on people's practical, real-life choice on which mode of transport to use for, say, their daily commute to work. There's a big enough disconnect between reality and Top Gear that it doesn't do that.

I gravitated towards a GTI because of their comparisons...

Indeed. I bought an Evo after seeing their FQ-400 review.

Have you seen the Marauder episode? My primary goal in life beyond the normal stuff is earning enough money to have one of those in my garage purely as a survival tool. Just leave it in the garage and maintain it for the day society collapses.

Yeah it was mental. $475,000....that's a chunk of change but then fuck all is going to hurt you in that.

One of the most impressive tests with an every day car was driving that Fiesta off the army landing craft. It was deep but it worked a treat given the water went over the windscreen at one point.
