For them to become mainstream they're gonna have to be practical and affordable to the general public, it's possible but we're a long way off if that's the case, those things ain't gonna sell like DVD players.

We're still miles off getting a decent and affordable (to the general pop) 3d plastic printer. TBH I don't think they'll ever hit the mainstream, there's only so much they can do, this isn't like a normal printer that does have an everyday use. I don't think they'll get anywhere near the sales they need for mass production that will drive the price down enough but I could be wrong with that.

Am I also right in saying that no matter how expensive the printer there hasn't been a single gun produced that is safe to use ?

Didnt know they had metal printers either, although it would be the logical next step, but I spose my feelings toward plastic printers can apply to them n all.

'Safe' is a relative term, but there have been plastic guns that can shoot multiple rounds without cracking or breaking altogether. But they still require a metal firing pin.

And plastic printers won't catch on until they can do full color. In fact, I don't think they'll be in every home like regular printers until they can do mixed material printing. How would 'ink' cartridges even work? The only reason I lean toward it being inevitable is because it's hard to imagine where innovation will take us a few decades from today. Think of how intricate and complicated a regular printer is, and how impossible it would have seemed in 1930.

I agree, especially with mixed printing. I just think the practicality of a regular printer is a lot more appealing to the consumer which means supply and demand will drive the price down eventually, so I'm leaning towards 3d printing remaining on the fringes and expensive. I think at most they'll end up like A2 printing now, where the majority of people will have to go somewhere to print it off. Like you said though - "it's hard to imagine where innovation will take us a few decades from today" :)

It's been a while but the only ones I have seen are obviously far inferior in that they don't shoot straight, aren't safe - as in a risk to the user and become worse after multiple uses. I don't think the metal firing pin is an issue at all, I'm sure if it becomes popular someone will be able to incorporate a household item into it.

Back to the topic though and it's pretty much what I said before. Regardless of the future we're still a long way from it becoming mainstream, ammo becomes harder to find if weapons are regulated and you wouldn't want to be seen with one if it's made illegal.

In the UK we have a lot of legally decommissioned firearms that can be recommissioned but no one does it because it's pointless and becomes nothing but a risk.

You can't follow the numbered sequence and figure that out? FFS.

Well, it's not. See, this is the problem with talking to someone like you who is a staunch gun advocate. I didn't say we should ban them. I didn't say guns should be taken away. I can't help it if you're fixated on taking my comments out of context and misinterpreting them. You're jumping to conclusions.

You say people shouldn't have assault weapons. How do you suppose something like that would be achieved without a ban? I think it's reasonable to assume that was what you were proposing

You mean like pointing out a common mistake, like mixing up the words 'clip' and 'magazine'? Or pointing out someone saying 'gunowner' instead of 'gun owner'? Or 'Increasibly' and 'increasingly'? Classic projection.

No. You simply want to argue.

Blah Blah Blah a few pictures and 3d printing

My point was, there are a lot of uneducated people wanting to restrict or ban "assault" weapons that don't really know what they are. There is no true definition of an assault weapon. It's merely a generic term used to describe a VERY wide range of firearms. You could never hope to impose a law based on such a vague concept.

You cry out in your sleep, all my failings exposed and there's a taste in my mouth as desperation takes hold. Just that something so good, just can't function no more.

But love, love will tear us apart again.

Yes, hence the guns coming from a different county. Also lets have a look at how many mass shootings there have been in each country in the last....say 3 months?

So, apparently a bunch of news media people stormed into the house of the two deceased suspects and started filming live on air. WTF? It's like a Black Friday sale.
