And you're calling me stupid? BWAHAHAHAHAAAA!
I've answered every question honestly. I've dodged nothing. There is no other way to make my point. You, like several others refuse to accept it. You want to paint a picture that just isn't there. I'm sorry, but it's not going to happen. I simply do not fit into your little box of doom and your refusal to acknowledge that is what makes you/this arguement stupid.

See, but the problem is you're not even making a point, you really are just saying "I carry because I can", which isn't a reason. If you've answered all the questions posed to you honestly, then in point of fact, you're really just not very smart. I find that odd, because while you may have questionable taste you've never struck me as flat-out dumb.

I'm not refusing to acknowledge anything, nor do I have the first clue what a 'box of doom' is, other than a stupid metaphor.

Perhaps I'm wrong and you really are just a moron.

I don't understand why people are still trying in this thread.
I proved him to be willfully ignorant back on page 23. He did not come to this position through facts and rational thought. Facts and rational thought are not going to change his mind.
At this point you are all just feeding the troll. Stop.

Fender is correct but I must point out that it's pretty funny that it took to page 23 for him to prove Gramps an idiot.

One thing gramps hasn't answered is how often his life is in danger. >:D

R00k wrote:That's not the same thing at all, based on what you said. Golfers and fishermen carry their clubs and poles with them because they WANT to be able to use them. Not out of some dreaded sense that somebody will make them use them.

It sounds like every case you have made basically rests on the claim that one of these days it will be good to have it. So all you really have to do is show that the risk of a single case where you really need a gun outweighs all the hassle of carrying it around with you every day of your life.

So, can't you think of a plausible situation where it would be better for you to have your gun on you in a public place, than it would to not have it? One where having it not only makes you safer, but also makes it worth the 'hassle' of carrying it everywhere you possibly can?
YourGrandpa wrote:To answer several questions at once. Not everything that surrounds the possession of a hand gun has to be one exterme or the other. I'm not expecting to die nor do I have the desire to kill someone. For several of you to automatically conclude that there is no possible way that I or anyone could ever find themselves in a situation where a gun could save their life or the life of another is nothing more than presumptuous. The same argument could be made against police officers having guns, since most of them never shoot anyone throughout their career. However, I realize that I'm not a police officer and my chances of ever needing my gun to protect myself are 10 times less. But that doesn't decrease the effectiveness of possessing a firearm if needed. Which brings me back to my original response to the question, "Why do you carry". I have a gerneral interest in firearms and because of that I own a handgun. Furthermore, the law states that if I pass an FBI background check and procure a license,I can carry the handgun I legally purchased. It's that simple.

Why do you guys think guns are such bad things? Is it possible that you may have some deep seeded fear of firearms that causes you to project that fear onto others who possess them? Because your arguments don't make any sense when applied to responsible law abiding citizens. And please, skip the typical BS explanation. A world without guns, wackos and other death causing devices will never exist. Stick to why guns make YOU feel the way that they do.

LOL! I HAVE a carry permit and a 1911, so don't feed me that "wah wah tree-hugging anti-gun pussies" bs.

I quoted both of those back-to-back posts because they're typical of the whole conversation. You're doing nothing but putting words in people's mouths, and then responding to things they never said with cliches, bluster and bumper stickers.

I didn't "automatically conclude that there is no possible way that I or anyone could ever find themselves in a situation where a gun could save their life or the life of another."

I simply asked you to name a single situation that would justify carrying a handgun day in and day out - just trying to show you that it wouldn't be hard to justify your actions to one extent or another. Yet you still refuse. You insist that such situations exist, but then in the very next sentence you outright refuse to back up your claim by describing even a hypothetical one. Something like this:

"Why do you carry a handgun everywhere?"

"Because a situation could arise where it would be good to have one."

"Oh, okay. Like, what kind of situation?"

"FUCK YOU, YOU FUCKING GUN-HATING ASS-CRAMMING HIPPY, I KNOW YOUR TYPE, AND I DON'T NEED TO EXPLAIN MYSELF TO ANY-GODDAMNED-BODY BECAUSE I'M A GODDAMNED AMERICAN AND THE LAW SAYS I DON'T HAVE TO."

You're a fucking walking stereotype plain and simple. You can't come up with a single reason to back up the claims you make, so instead you puff up your chest and try to put on some sort of display of confidence, as if that alone is enough to make your statements credible.

Don't get me wrong, it works for some people. As long as the people they are trying to convince are brainless cowards.

I can't help but ask... Does that sort of behavior work with people you know in real life? :olo:
