OK, so I generally don't like electronic music [barring a few rare exceptions, and those are more due to the associations and/or memories attached to them]. I've always been into guitar based music, various forms of metal, rock, blues, whathaveyou. It took me ages to even begin accepting stuff like NiN. However, I'm now finding myself strangely hooked to this song, which is weird because I thought I was too much of an old fart to get dubstep.

So what's the verdict? Is it any good or am I turning into an asshole?

Lots of people, including myself and many of friends, love Skrillex and his brand of dirty electro dubstep/brostep. You'd enjoy the latest Korn album, which blends nu-metal with this type of electronics. But there are also a LOT of haters. Including pretty much everyone on this board.

As a metal fan, I think you will like this song:

There is also faster dnb style drumstep:

This is the latest track to really catch my fancy:

I lot of my friends who are into metal have really embraced dubstep. I just can't get my head round it. Maybe I'm getting too old :(

I like the original, but it's a bit too spacey and over-produced IMO. The bass in Bowie's version is just goofy sounding.
He started with the basis for a great song, but Nirvana nailed it.

Option #2.

In all seriousness, I find it just as grating as most of the dubstep I've listened to. I really try not to have any pre-conceived notions of a genre. I love all kinds of music and discovering something new can be very exciting, but this is one I think I just don't get. I'll give a listen to things posted here, I try to give it a chance. The very few tracks that start out okay promptly appear to have someone shitting all over them.

But, as I always say, it doesn't matter what I think of it. If you get enjoyment out of it, good for you. That's my loss.

I sort of like this first one, very sinister intro [gets a bit dull for me later]. The other two, not so much.

Here's another one that's really tickling my prostate:

Finally, this one's a bit old but I only just found it recently, very brutal [not dubstep/electronic]:

I was curious about the music used in the second Game of Thrones season 2 trailer, turns out it is "Seven Devils" by Florence + The Machines:

So I've been listening to the entire album through Spotify and it's a damn solid piece of work. I'm digging this stuff. Listening to the first album, "Lungs" as well now. Top class stuff.

Autotune completely ruined what was otherwise a pretty good song. Shame.

The intro reminded me of some of Hecq's stuff:
