For me Avengers was win but Guardians blew it away like it wasn't even trying, for me it made Age of Ultron a terrible film - I know it wasn't terrible but GotG set the bar so high and stole so much light from the Avengers that the expectation just left AoU pissing in the wind. With the success of Ant Man n all, I hope Marvel (and DC/WB) start moving into this more light hearted format.
And yea you can pretty much guarantee that GotG 2 is gonna be shit as fuck.

Re: The last movie you saw
Guardians had the right amount of humor. Antman seemed tryhard, especially with that toy train shit at the end. Also, controlling ants was just too weird. Paul Rudd is the man though.

2001.... Fuck me, what an incredible film.
I'm really glad I waited so long to see it so that I the first time was under such good conditions.
If I'd seen that in 1968 when it was made I think I'd have had to lie down for the rest of the year to recover

The Big Short
A nice drama with big name stars based on the troubles\criminality of the Wall Street collapse and bailout. The movie exposes the methodology used by Big Financial institutions to rake in huge personal profits while also showing how a very small group of truly smart people bet and won big that the whole game full of bullshit.
I enjoyed it, yawned a bit, learned a bit and had some fun.
Plenty Good Enough 7/10

Loved Nightcrawler. Jakes best performance imo.
Thick, solid, tanned and tight in all the right places... smashing 10's on the regular.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)
Finally caught this today and yes, as it has been school holidays here for seemingly months
and I really don't like the crowds, I have avoided the adventure. Funny how some people don't fancy the masses.
I enjoyed and it was nice to be catching the original cast up after how many years?
Anyway I likes the show and it is classic Star Wars so rate accordingly.
Watch it you will
8/10

Prisoners 8/10
Great suspense thriller. Jackman and Gyllenhaal were both great, and Paul Dano plays a creepy simple kid, like he was born to.

The Fifth Wave (2016)
Would I watch again? Yes and I'd rate 7/10
I just don't know why they didn't blow the (apparently only one ) alien mother-ship out of the sky immediately. They didn't in District 9 I suppose
IMDB
Rotten Tomatoes
You probably know I enjoy sci-fi so I didn't find this alien invasion/human resistance movie that bad. Descent acting I thought and although a predictable plot with a twist or two, it wasn't that a bad movie IMO.Four waves of increasingly deadly alien attacks have left most of Earth decimated. Cassie is on the run, desperately trying to save her younger brother.

doc about the quest to become a Master Sommelier which is apparently quite difficult.
very enjoyable watch if you're into wine at all...

Saving Matt Damon 3 aka The Martian: 9/10 - well-made, smoothly efficient piece of film-making, inspirational, and Sean Bean didn't die (not really a spoiler)
that bit where they mention the Council of Elrond and the whole audience expects a "one does not simply..." joke
