Guitar Hero III
Re: Guitar Hero III
I'm thinking of doing the opposite, NS. Buy GH3 new w/ guitar and get GH2 used. Then let my wife give me GH3 for x-mas. Meanwhile, I'll play GH2 on the wireless.
Re: Guitar Hero III
I played it for the first time last night on Hard. Got 70% my first try.R00k wrote:Christ. I played through it on the credits screen after beating Medium, and I thought I was going to starve to death before the song ended.Fury wrote:Raining Blood is kicking my ass something fierce on expert.
managed to beat Through the Fire and Flames on hard though.
Re: Guitar Hero III
when i first played GH1, I thought Hard was extremely hard because it included the orange fret. what seems impossible now will be easy soon enough. practice makes perfect in a game like this, which makes it so cool IMO.Nightshade wrote:I picked up GH3(w/controller) and a used GH2 controller last night, this game's fun as hell. I never played GH1 or 2, and now I'm wishing I had.
I'm not a guitarist, but someone tell me, is it even possible to play this game in Expert mode? I tried it just to see what it looked like and I nearly dislocated all my fingers.FOR FUCK'S SAKE, IT LOOKS IMPOSSIBLE.
I also grabbed PGR4 and Ace Combat 6. Gonna snag Timeshift today and pick up Mass Effect and CoD4 as soon as they come out.

Don't worry, I started out that way too.... now I play expert with only minimal problems ( I SUCK AT 4+ BUTTON PULLOFFS)
Re: Guitar Hero III
I thought the same thing with GH1 way back when I first played it. Beat the game on Easy, then just work your way up as you get more and more comfortable with the game. Eventually Expert won't look as daunting as you remembered it.Nightshade wrote:I picked up GH3(w/controller) and a used GH2 controller last night, this game's fun as hell. Re: Guitar Hero III
Yeah, I expect it to get easier with time. I don't think I can recall a game with this much extended play value.
Re: Guitar Hero III
Yea that's the beauty of it. Even if you beat all the songs on a difficulty level, you still have the challenge of trying to 5-star them, and they're fun to play over and over.
Really the only downside in the game is having to beat the songs you don't like so you can unlock the ones you do.

I still have to beat the Muse song before I can even play One or Cliffs of Dover on hard. All the arpeggio-looking ho/po's are kicking my ass.

Re: Guitar Hero III
In raining blood, the body of the song is just 4 and 5 button pulloffs. impossible for me because I cannot do that.R00k wrote:That's awesome.Jackal wrote:

Re: Guitar Hero III
Yea, that's exactly what I'm talking about.
How did you beat the Muse song on hard?

Re: Guitar Hero III
I haven't yet... I played raining blood on co-op (expert) with my cuz, he was on bass i was on guitar and we lost as soon as the pulloffs started. it was pretty funny actually.... i was like 'umm i cant do that' and then FAIL.R00k wrote:Yea, that's exactly what I'm talking about.

Re: Guitar Hero III
Is anyone going to get the PC version?
Re: Guitar Hero III
Ahh. I haven't played coop yet -- no extra guitars.

Re: Guitar Hero III
Well you probably don't have any USB ports left with that SkyTag hooked up.

um co-op online...R00k wrote:Ahh. I haven't played coop yet -- no extra guitars.

Re: Guitar Hero III
Not that I've ever played guitar hero, but couldn't you do taps on the last fret with the right hand? Or alternatively cross hands and hold the bottom note with your index finger (like in Satch's Raspberry Jam intro)andyman wrote:In raining blood, the body of the song is just 4 and 5 button pulloffs. impossible for me because I cannot do that.R00k wrote: That's awesome.

Re: Guitar Hero III
so like when will you be able to hook up a real guitar on there that way after you spend countless hours playing a video game, you just might gain an actual skill
Re: Guitar Hero III
Expalin to me why playing video games is not an actual skill. Is it fake? OMG, AM I NOT ACTUALLY PLAYING A GAME? ALL THOSE HOURS WASTED!!!!1

Re: Guitar Hero III
exactly right! knowing how to play a plastic guitar with a few buttons is just as awesome as knowing how to play a real guitar!!!Transient wrote:Expalin to me why playing video games is not an actual skill. Is it fake? OMG, AM I NOT ACTUALLY PLAYING A GAME? ALL THOSE HOURS WASTED!!!!1
Re: Guitar Hero III
Who said anything about Guitar Hero? I'm talking about video games in general.
Comparing GH to a real guitar is just sad.

Re: Guitar Hero III
well just an idea, I am obviously not bashing video gaming since I do it myself, but I figured if there was a way to at least take a step toward the right direction (read: something with strings) that would be a bit more genuine instead of pushing buttons and all.
Re: Guitar Hero III
That would be really cool if someone could pull it off, for under $200.
Now, is anyone waiting for the PC version of Guitar Hero 3. I am going to buy the PC version, because it seems more fun than playing Frets on Fire.

Re: Guitar Hero III
Ive never played Guitar Hero untill now. I just did the Demo with my controller, and its so difficult, even on medium mode. I was wondering, is the controller harder to use than the guitar? Also, does anyone experience a drawback period where they play a song over and over, but their score seems to progressivly worse untill the next day you try? I dont know..
