Because I understand cameras and I know how heavy a high quality camera is. There's no fucking way one could make it on to a lander. It's not the CCD/CMOS that's the problem, It's the lens

You know how much it costs to take fucking pictures with an orbiter? It's not as cheap as your little disposable camera. They aren't going to position these orbiters to take shots of something that they already know is there. The last thing on their mind is trying to convince nutjobs, such as geoff, that the landings actually happened.

I don't know if we landed on the moon, I hope we did, and I like to believe we did. All the technology and the knowledge on how to do it is here, and it is very dutch so possible. However, what i don't understand is why they find it so very unbelievably hard to take a simple picture of the landings, from one of the moon orbiting satellites. We would be able to see the exact landing site completly preserved, as it was on the day they left. But, no pictures, and they keep making up the lames excuses. No one is asking them to take a picture of the moon from the surface of Earth. the telescope needed to do that would be a huge waste of money, and it would be no good for anything else. However, taking pictures of the landing sites from the moon orbiting satellites is extremely easy, but they always come up with excuses not to do it. This latest Japanese orbiting satellite around the moon is a joke. they are keeping the images to themselves like some greedy bastards. They only ever released a total of less than 10 pictures, and 5 videos. Mind you, the videos where down sampled from their original HD quality. It's like they are using the images in some mass Japanese orgy cult, and no one else can have them.

Why did they take multiple pictures of the landed Pheonix probe on the Mars, then?
Taken directly by the orbiting high power camera satellites. those heavy cameras went all the way to the Mars, moon is cheaper.

The point stands you idiot. Even from a satellite a mile high the lens would have to be fucking huge, like the size of the satellite and more. The logistics are immense, just for a photo of the landing site? lol, fuck off you fruit loops.

And so what? The Japanese have to send you an email with all the pictures attached? That would be a bigger waste of their time than taking the pictures in the first place.

Did you even take a look at theat Mars photo, the one that an orbiting satellite took. Showing Phoenix on the surface? Plus a fiew more photos of the mars rowers, also taken from orbiting satellites.

Isn't it in a very low decaying orbit, as in a short term orbit? As in there's never been a man made object in a short term decaying orbit over the moon so no images could be taken.

This is due to the fact that unlike a planet, the moon has no atmosphere, therefore satellites orbit at a much lower altitude, no friction to slow it down, and absolutely no atmospheric distortion on the lenses, therefore not requiring correction, meaning less weight. At the moon the satellites orbit reaches about 80km from the surface at Perigee, this requires lower power on the camera. This, coupled with the fact the moon is much smaller than a planetary body, thus requiring lower orbiting speeds, meaning even lower rez pictures come out sharper.

Now lets say you have a perfectly legit scientific mission like the upcoming NASA satellite and the Japanese one already there, they orbit around and take the pictures they need to accomplish that mission, meanwhile whole this satellite is orbiting the moon, it shifts it's orbit, like the Earth satellites, this would cause it to pass over the moon landing spots many times during this mission, giving them a perfect opertunity to take the photos, while not diverting them from their regular mission.

There was a rather large number of moon orbiting satellites that where crashed in to the moon surface on purpose (decaying orbit) near the end of the mission. Both by NASA, Russia, and the European Space Agency.
