it's fascinating watching the 'narrative' of bad russia vs beacon of democracy being imposed on events. i've noticed how when something first happens - before the msm+government has collectively 'shaped' it into a self-serving story - is when all the interesting details come out. all those bits and pieces that don't fit the imposed narrative. the economist today said that georgians were 'overwhelmingly' behind sakashvili, yet when the BBC was in tbilisi getting vox pops, the word was all "that idiot sakashvili - what did he think was gonna happen?"

fuck 'europe', its not a country. im sure you wouldnt say "let africa sort out the whole congo dealio", much like noone would say the USA should be sorting any Canadian shit.
that was something else that made me

during Bush's critisism. 'Russia is being a threat to the USA and to Europe'. eh. why not "the america's and europe"

No shit, that's why I said Europe. It's several countries. And if Europe is bothered enough by the Russia vs Georgia conflict, let them sort it out. The U.S. needs to take a few steps back and remove their face from the world police role for awhile. We don't need any more wars. We need to concentrate more on what is going on here. People are losing their jobs, property values are in the toilet, the dollar isn't worth shit, banks aren't lending money, etc. We've got enough problems. We don't need any more.

We've allowed our leaders to fuck us. It's a know fact that the majority of Americans don't support our government's actions. This country will right itself again, just like it always does.

FOX news was shot at In Georgia
Ok...stay with me here a second...the US is obviously on Georgia's side and hates the big bad Russians. Ok? With me?
In this video you'll see American journalists running for their lives from
Georgian forces shooting at them. The reporter called the
Georgian forces "undisciplined, angry and humiliated." and that "they’re furious and they seem to take out that fury, that humiliation on the people they can. The journalists."
Got all that? The journalist is essentially saying the Georgian forces are a bunch of crazy assholes shooting anyone they see.
The funny thing isn't that the Georgians are firing on their "allies"...the funny thing is that - after the Fox News reporter just finished enunciating TWICE that the Georgians were angry, they finish off the segment with a bump for an upcoming Fox News segment about the "angry Russians" (punctuated with the Fox bimbo using an irritated voice when speaking about Russia).
Seriously...you cannot make this stuff up and have it come out funnier...or stupiderererist.

The Economist took on the wider media narrative rather quickly, their article(s) so far have been disappointing reads.

While Russia and Georgia accuse each other of "ethnic cleansing", for the vast majority sheltering in the Alagir camp the blame lies squarely with Georgia's erratic leader. "Saakashvili is worse than Hitler," said Dolgi Zabolena, who was taken by Russian troops out of Tskhinvali after four days of heavy fighting.

the south ossetians don't seem to be confused about who's to blame
this is the 2nd hitler reference i've heard so far, the other being the swedish foreign minister (i think) saying that putin's justification for rolling into south ossetia (saving russian lives) was similar to that of hitler's in czechoslovakia. what he didn't mention, however, was that a similar justification (saving american lives) was made by reagan for invading grenada
oops

I was surprised that even The Daily Show seemed to follow suit, anti-Russia wise.
Not that I rely on TDS for objective, non-biased news, but usually they seem to be a bit more

and

Plus Jon Stewart is starting to get on my nerves. Always with that lazy eyed wink when he says something drole...

I'm guessing you're speaking about me. If so, I've never voted. I also was quite shocked that Bush was voted in the second time around.
