So did you make the concept art too?
Are
you the reason the Internet's screaming "Revan!"?

No no, I'm merely a modeller, they draw pictures and I make them into 3D. Creative decisions and responsibility are left to people far above my pay grade. I was only following ze orders, Herr Komandant.

I think the new outfits of the troopers are an improvement
I also really like the fact that they don't use CGI as much as in the prequels

I done moulded the flametrooper/snow trooper helmets too as well as some other bits that aren't public. Shame none of the pilot helmets are there, they're my favourite.
You sculpted the "The Guy"-mask in zbrush, then printed it, then made a mold? No clay?
This Guy, is that a hero prop? Or just mass? If hero, did you get a lifecast? Or are body scans of actors already available to you guys? Just asking because of the fit of the mask.
In mass production (for troopers) how many helmets/masks had to be cast and how many mothermolds did you have?
Where the mass slush-casted or what way do the pros go in this case?

Nope, no clay. It was all digital and yeah, we used a body scan for reference.
No slush moulding, though we do now have a rotocaster for this film. Most of it was rim cast into silicone moulds, but we also used quite a lot of machine vacuum casting for more complicated bits. Some components are fibreglass too - the helmets and front armour for the non-standard troopers for example. I think the numbers were around 60 main troopers and the silicone moulds lasted around 20 pulls because they needed to be heated for the cure.

I'm more excited about this one if I'm honest. That's what a teaser
should be.

Hehe, yeah, that was pretty technical stuff.
I got you Phant. Thanks for the insights.
I still struggle when exactly in (british) english you either use the term cast or mould. I thought the process of creating a positive was called casting, yet you used the term slush moulding. But whatever, seems really interesting. And, of course, WOW.
With rim casting you refer to reinforced injection moulding or reaction injection moulding? Or, in other words, the most parts were PUR with a fiberglass top or made of (casted) PUR foam?
And edit: probably most important, without advertizing, what supplier does your company use? Smooth-On, Mouldlife or something totally different, like a direct producer?
And, no, I'm not a journalist. I'll definitely not forward whatever you are allowed to say to anyone. I'm just interested because of personal interest, hobby.

My girlfriend and I often argue wether "ch" should be pronounced as "k" or "ch" in some german words.
It's relieving to see other couples facing similar problems.
