The storm is now directly west of us on the opposite side of the state. We are fortunate to have had no damage or lost power yet. We are on a local emergency care center and fire departments power grid. So they work to get those back on quick. However, this storm has slowed down greatly and is causing flooding everywhere.

So far we've only lost a few shingles. And despite all the local flooding we don't have any standing water in the swales. Weird.

My non-American house is made from sandstone bricks, it would probably erode away during a storm too

Almost every home built in the US within 10 miles of the coast is concrete block construction. It's been that way for at least 20 years.
