A question, that i dident find on taht site, is it possible to record parts of the demo like you can do ingame, with that proggy?

Just record the demo ingame as you would normally from wherever you want to start recording. Then find the demo in your folder and double click it. Seismovision should run it automatically. I use DSC, ( demo show creator), and that runs every demo as I double click it.

Uploaded a quick 5 min demo of myself playing against a couple of bots, got some interesting scenes. Best I could do with the amount of time I have. Would love to record a demo playing against one of you, but uh, yea. No one would join ;)

You don't need to use syncronous clients anymore. With OSP, just use this command:

/autorecord filename

This wont fuck your movement, and makes demo recording generally easier.

whoops- changed a few things in my original zip and re-upped it (thus overwriting my last one) and upped a new one as well. lots of demos to choose from, although the kills aren't exactly spectacular :p

If you're gonna do tricks, don't do them on a listen server, please. They mostly just get very choppy and won't look good.

Start a dedicated server first, then connect to that. It makes things much smoother. You don't need a very fast PC for this to work. I used to do it on my old P3 450MHz.

To create a dedicated server setup, just use the osp config generator. It's in your OSP folder.

If anyone wants to record something, jump on the ap the longue osp ca server any time. I will record some scenes from your pov when I'm speccing. Just jump in, people play there every night (I'll try to be there). Even if it's just one or two frags that should be enough for the movie.

yea... im watching our "match" (duuh) now and i would like to record bits from it.. but when i pulldown console to start recording the demo just stops and goes back to menu...why?

I havent made a q3a video in 3 years...but what i remembered was that you could record from your recorded videos while watching them.... or am i wrong?

You can export the footage you want, not just entire demos, so it doesn't matter if the demo has only the stuff that's gonna be used or a lot of other stuff also that isn't usable. If that's what you meant.

No, Q3 is stupid in that way if you do any input keys while the demo is playing it will kill the demo and return to the main menu.

There are some keys you can use though. Here is a picture I made a couple of years ago showing what can be used and what can't.

[lvlshot]http://netrexx.net/files/games/Q3A/pictures/darkened-keys-(640).jpg[/lvlshot]

The darkened keys are the ones that will abort demoplayback if you push them. The rest can be bound for do stuff if you want.
