BTW, collecting doesn't have a set of standards or list of requirements. Some people collect news paper clippings FFS. Listen, it’s pointless for me to defend my position against someone who has an unchangeable opinion. Please continue to have your opinion and I’ll have mine. I answered your questions in a fashion that would not only prove a point, but also provide you with my response. I didn’t “prance” around anything. To further my point, not everything is ultimately used for what it is designed. Were cars designed to run over people, were golf clubs designed to cave in peoples skulls, were axes designed to chop off peoples limbs, etc… Why do we allow adults own any of those things? I’ll tell you. They all have other practical uses and require the use by a disturbed individual to kill.
just saying when people collect things they usually have a particular importance, if you collected old guns i could understand but as you said, you just go out and buy shit you like. Obviously it can be considered a collection but you can see why everyone thinks its pointless ?... its just another bunch of guns, a retarded hobby where you shoot at a piece of paper. I do see points where gun ownership shouldnt be restricted, so dont think i dont.

And no cars are not intended to run people over but if you collected cars and had more than 1 i prolly wouldve said "Planning on racing yourself are you", and what else you going to use a gun for ?, ornament ?, tit

seriously, are you a fucking retard? you honestly think a car was designed to run people over? or a golf club (the clue is in the name) for anything other than playing golf? the things you listed you aren't even secondary functions, at least not in the eyes of anyone not rocking an extra chromosome.

a gun isn't a knife you idiot. you can't cut bacon with it. a gun was made, 100% simply to kill. if you honestly think it has any other purpose, then you're delusional.

You're either an idiot who can't read or a moron with terrible reading comprehension. Because you clearly missed the point. Please use a fork and stab your face to death.

wouldn't you rather make use of your $$$$ purchases and shoot me with your shotgun, bounty hunter randy? :olo:

look, a gun is useless if it isn't used to kill. there is no secondary function for it, which is why i'm saying your argument is crap. this is why the vast majority of the civilised world doesn't allow people to own guns.

i took what you said the same way as him ?, i didnt even ask for examples of every day items with functional needs, if you had reading comprehension you wouldve noticed that i only stated that guns are designed to kill, as that was the reasoning behind my comments earlier in the thread, not our fault if you want to be a defensive arse and not show some bollocks by mincing around discussions

How are those people like me? I can't (by law) open carry and don't have the desire to do so. Although I'm not foolish enough to make any assumptions about the people that do open carry, nor would I be afraid of someone that did.
Now you're just being pedantic. My point about the video is the fact that most normal people think those who feel the need to carry weapons (concealed or not) are fucked in the head.

In that video I posted the guy used his gun to hold his ice cream cone and to stir his coffee.
There are so many practical uses for a gun, as Homer Simpson has clearly displayed.

Have you ever heard of the Olympic Biathlon? How about skeet or trap shooting? BTW, who the fuck are you to determine what is practical for everyone. You're just another dipshit on the internet.
You breathing isn't "practical". Because there should be no way that so little brain could sustain life. :olo:

That's what YOU are saying. That's not what the video depicts. The video has nothing to do with concealed carry. In fact, they go out of their way to declare that the video isn't about concealed carry. It's also funny how you claim someone is normal when all they have to do is see a gun and they become paranoid or disturbed. I'd say you're by far normal and in fact a prime example of the pussification of society.

not sure that practicality is the only justification for a thing's existence, tbh

if start down the road of saying 'anything which is potentially life-threatening and serves no practical purpose should be banned' we'd end up in a weird place indeed. and we could kiss any meaningful sense of personal freedom goodbye too

this is a separate issue from whether or not it's worth actually carrying a gun around with you everywhere. gramps hasn't made a convincing case for that, except maybe in his own mind

lol you retard.

The very beginning of the piece has them talking about gun owners and "armed Americans", the main guy they interviewed said,"We want GUN OWNERSHIP and GUN CARRY to come out of the closet", the protesters talked about "gun control"...as in ALL GUNS...not just "open carry" and the guy from the Brady Campaign clearly said,"I'd feel alot more comfortable if the gun owners and the people that loved their guns kept that behind closed doors". He also said,"It's 2010, not 1870. People that carry guns around in public are living in some fantasy world and they're endangering the rest of us."

Come on gramps, it's quite clear what I was getting at from the actual content of the video. If you want to pretend something else then I guess you're more deluded than I thought.
YourGrandpa wrote:It's also funny how you claim someone is normal when all they have to do is see a gun and they become paranoid or disturbed.
Yes moron...most people would become uncomfortable after being made aware that someone in their vicinity is carrying a weapon. Most people would also become uncomfortable if they realized someone near them was carrying a samurai sword, a landmine, an axe or a hand grenade. They're uncomfortable not just with the proximity of the weapon but the motivations of the person carrying it. That scene in the video of Wyatt Cenac in the coffee shop is exactly the thing I'm talking about and is a prime example of how "normal people" feel about fools who arm themselves in public.

You really are a close-minded idiot, aren't you?
YourGrandpa wrote:I'd say you're by far normal and in fact a prime example of the pussification of society.
Yes...I am "by far normal"...unlike a gun-nut such as yourself.

"Pussification of society" :olo:
Thanks for that clarification gramps...after 30 plus pages you finally admitted that the reason you carry a gun in public is to feel tough and feel like "a real man".

The Brady Campaign guy clearly states at 2:13 that the people who carry "on their hip, in public" are the people who he has a problem with. He obviously associates carrying a gun "in public" as carrying a gun where it can be seen by other members of the "public". He also states that the guns should be kept behind closed doors. Which to anyone with an I.Q. point south of 80 means, out of "public" view. The CCW is clearly avoided.

And no gramps, in my entire life NOBODY has pointed a gun at me and told me to give them my wallet. And I'd bet a whole year's salary that it's never happened to you either.
