So I bought a new shotgun...
Re: So I bought a new shotgun...
pretty sure yg stated earlier in the tread that he carries a gun because there is a law that said he could.
so he had no choice.
so he didnt make a choice because then there would have been a reason.

It's not a semantic argument, you idiot. You obviously don't know what practical means. Yes, you were asked to provide a practical alternative use for guns, and you failed. Leaving aside the fact that Florida doesn't exactly have a booming biathlon scene, the sport (and all olympic sports) are completely frivolous, society wouldn't grind to a halt without curling.YourGrandpa wrote:
So now you want to argue about what you consider practical? Get the fuck out of here.
He asked for a practical use for guns, outside of their primary use. He didn't say, tell me a use for guns that NightShade and I find practical.
Furthermore, I don't get pissy about anything any of you nobodies on the internet have to say. However, I do find it particularly humorous that people so removed from someone's life can come to such ridiculous conclusions, just because said someone owns guns.
I've stated the reasons why I enjoy firearms. All of those reasons are "practical" to me and many others. I'm sorry none of those reasons fit your stereotypical fantasies of some gun nut going on a killing spree at a local big-box store.
Ok, so you think "I like them because I like them" is a reason. Great. You're an idiot.

Why don't you go look up the word practical. If it takes you more than a half a second to figure out that arguing about the practicality of something is completely based on ones interpretation of what is practical, you’re a moron.Nightshade wrote: It's not a semantic argument, you idiot. I’ll also add that I’ve given clear reasoning as to why I enjoy firearms. If you would go back and read, you’d see.

so when did it change from "why do you carry firearm"
to "why you like firearms"
was that another cop out on the fly?

this thread is almost 40 pages and a year and a half old, the reason I had to ask is because I went back 5 pages and found this same statement as an answer, which is when you told me you was a collector, which was obviously bolloxYourGrandpa wrote:Why don't you go look up the word practical. I hope this is all for the sake of argument. Becuase if it's not, you're a highly functioning retard.

Listen, I know have a serious problem with the english language or you're not that bright. Possibly both. Either way, I kind of feel bad picking on someone so disadvantaged. I would appriciate it if you could at least avoid commenting in my threads, as it's clear you have diffculties following along.plained wrote:so when did it change from "why do you carry firearm"

I understand the point that you're trying to make about subjective interpretation of the word "practical", but it simply doesn't apply here. Biathlon is complete frivolity, it has no real-world application unless you're a poor cross-country skiing farmer. Last time I checked, you don't ski much in Florida.YourGrandpa wrote:

What are you going to try to argue next? Modern society's critical need for the everyday skill sets of bobsledders? How the economy would crumble if it weren't for the sagacious, astute input of lugers?

"Well Bob, as you can see here, this four-alarm blaze would have consumed this entire city block if it weren't for the spunky Estonian's triple Lutz. Back to you in the studio."

Gramps...nobody has had any difficulties following along. We've all watched you move the goal posts continually in your defense/rationalization of owning instruments of death. If it's not "for home protection" then it's because "you have the right"...then it's got something to do with people driving on public roads before it morphs into "because guns are in the Olympics" then tumbles off to stopping the pussification of your cuntry.YourGrandpa wrote:...it's clear you have diffculties following along.
Trust me gramps...everyone's following along...it's just the meandering path of logic you're taking us down makes even your most sensible arguments irrelevant...and is hilarious to watch.

I've been asked many specific questions that don't apply directly to me. I've also given many answers that apply to those specific questions. Don't try to imply that my opinions or responses are changing, because they aren't. This entire topic has been one change of tact after another. It is not my fault that once someone loses a position they angle for another. My position remains the same.GONNAFISTYA wrote: Gramps...nobody has had any difficulties following along. 1. Guns are not bad. People are bad. Bad people will continue to kill others with or without guns
2. I carry a gun because I have one and the laws where I live say I can. I didn't purchase my gun/s because I fear anything or anyone. Furthermore, I got my CCW because it's a right that I chose to take advantage of.
3. I buy guns because I enjoy shooting them, working on them and learning about them. I'm not paranoid about the foolish notion that the economy is going to collapse and I will have to protect myself or that Obama is going to ban the purchase of the firearms I own.
I view my guns more like fishing poles or golf clubs. And going shooting to me is like going fishing or playing a game of golf. I don't go because I plan to kill or harm anyone. I go to have fun doing something I enjoy. If you can't understand that then I don't know what to tell you.
Re: So I bought a new shotgun...
I have a carry permit, but I rarely carry my pistol anywhere. What is the difference between you and me in that regard?

Hey stupid, move along. I've answered all the questions. If you haven't found the answer, re-read the thread again and again until you find it. It's there, trust me.

When I use to run a service van I carried a fishing pole. I also had a boss who always had a set of clubs in the trunk of his car. But I haven't fished in awhile and I'm not a golfer.seremtan wrote:do you carry a fishing rod or a set of clubs around with you everywhere? or do the laws where you live not allow that?YourGrandpa wrote:2.
