Don Carlos wrote:So I decided to start running yesterday, what with having an 11 mile run in 4 weeks time. Managed 5k in 27 minutes and today my knees are destroyed (well, hurting anyway). I have wolfed down some good cod liver oil and done some stretches (something I didn't do after my run...naughty) and they are starting to ease a little (due to the streches I guess)
Any tips for breathing when running as I always seem to breath really shallowly and quickly which I know is not good at all...I need to train myself to breath deeply and slowly, but how?
don u have a massive barrel chest no? that usually makes it pretty easy to jog without being winded because of ur big VO max
sounds like ur not conditioned enough to run for long yet
get more conditioned more with moderate weight no-impact circut type training, so you are breathing hard but not huffing and puffing
only breath thru ur nose ey, very very deeply tho

i dont do max lifts because its always the same story with me, my muscles can lift whatever i give them, unfortunately my joints and tendons and shit just tears right off
i'm already 90 % strong as i am able to get so i go for volume and conditioning
There's quite a lot of useful supplements for joints and tendons, have you tried any?
no i really havent taken any supplements for joints and tendons, basically because i have no worn or weak ones and no discomfort, but when i routinely train heavy these types of injuries occur.
in my mind the only thing that would increase my level of injury proofing would be cell tech.
i'm a pretty small guy, 5'7" or 5'8" (wangs big) with tiny joints (i can be shapely) and when i'm at full strength i'm very pleased with the amount of weight i can handle, when i'm at my peak people always think i'm 30lbs heavier then i am
do have u any personal experience with joint type supps?

glucosamine is supposed to help but most clients I've trained with never stick with it long enough to find out.

yes i am familiar with glucosamine i have heard of people taking it for many reasons such as worn out shoulders and knees and for autoimmune type inflammation type stuff associated with glutens and all that
it may work for those things i dont really know , prolly not tho would be my guess
my problem is more like
take a chicken, tie a dumbell with a bunch of 45's on each side to the chicken wings
ok lift!
that shit just tears off
i think thats my problem
