The RealD 3D glasses are very dorky looking...basically Elvis Costello dorky.
Perhaps, but they're a damn sight better than the blue & red film/paper things of the past...

I don't think I've been so drawn into a movie at the theaters since LOTR. The superb visual effects carried an otherwise predictable plot, but I still found myself caring for the Na'vi, mostly because their way of life and philosophies were so similar to Native Indians.

I loved it, I watched it with the real3D glasses and although the 3D effects weren't mind blowing they were impressive enough that I caught myself not paying attention to the actual story just to stare at a blob of water in 0 gravity :p It was very good, the story was predictable as everyone has said. Definitely worth a see in 3D.

Yeah there's an IMAX not far from here too and I've been pondering going to see it there to see if it's any better. I would have to assume the IMAX is better.

Everything from their clothing to lifestyle was similar in one way or another to the Natives of North America. The Na'vi chief was even played by a Native Oklahoman ffs.

Why is this such a difficult concept for your tiny little mind to grasp?

adverb: obliviously u'bli-vee-us-lee

"they lived obliviously in their own small world thinking Injuns were not cannibals"

You said Native Indians, which is incorrect. It should be Native Americans. Native Indians live in India. This is why you are being mocked. Not the comparison.

"Avatar" sped past the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office after three weekends in release, making it the fourth-biggest movie of all time, according to data released on Sunday.

James Cameron's 3-D sci-fi epic earned $1.02 billion, powered by sales of $202 million during the New Year holiday weekend, distributor 20th Century Fox said.
